Voicing Thor, the brutal Norse God of Thunder, the Danish star couldn’t be more happier to bring his version of the character on the table, after all, Thor is pretty much part of his heritage. And so while he loves what Chris Hemsworth has achieved in the MCU, Asbæk does not want to compare his version to the hero Hemsworth has portrayed across several movies.

“No, nothing. Hemsworth is doing incredible work, and I don’t want to compare myself to the Thor that he did because it is iconic and fun and spot-on with the character. He has found a great voice within Marvel with that character and did incredible work. I got to give it to him.”

Stated Asbæk while speaking to Looper in an exclusive interview. He then went on to state how his version will be more based on the Nordic legends than MCU’s take, and completely differ from Hemsworth’s.

“What you have to remember is I am Scandinavian. Thor is my legacy… It’s what I’ve been raised with in the Nordic countries, in the north of Europe. My Thor is closer to how he was written. He is a brute — impolite, rogue, brutal, and doesn’t give a s*** about anyone.”

After hearing the Samaritan star’s words, one can hardly not get excited about Twilight of the Gods. For after all, it is Zack Snyder who is behind the upcoming series.

Zack Snyder and Netflix seem to be having a pretty good collaborative experience so far. After releasing his sci-fi epic, Rebel Moon, on the platform, the former DC helmer will now be releasing his animated anime-style series, Twilight of the Gods.

Based on and inspired by Norse mythology, the project has been in development for quite some time. While Snyder serves as the writer and the executive producer of the eight-part animated series, Jay Oliva is the showrunner and producer.

While speaking to Collider, Snyder explained that when a wedding event goes wrong, the bride-to-be (also the child of giants), Sigrid, puts together a team to seek revenge against a particular god.
