Jujutsu Kaisen is the most talked-about series of 2023 and one of the highest-selling manga. 2023 has been a good year for Jujutsu Kaisen and its fans. The anime managed to grab a podium finish in the Global Demand Awards for one of the top 3 most in-demand shows in 2023.
The series is also currently airing its second season, which is animated by Mappa and faces constant criticism from the audience due to its terrible working conditions. However, the tension has reached a critical point where significant figures involved in season two of Jujutsu Kaisen are about to leave.
Jujutsu Kaisen animators share the problems with their work schedule for Mappa on Twitter
Jujutsu Kaisen achieved great feats in 2023, and one of the major highlights was ranking a finish in the top 3 most in-demand shows of 2023.
Mappa is a very well-known studio and has produced masterpieces, but the only thing fans often remember about it is its poor working conditions.
It is not the first time Mappa has been criticized for overworking their employees and giving them an impossible schedule.
Attack on Titan season 4, part 1, could be one of the many examples where Mappa tried to cramp everything and failed.
Jujutsu Kaisen season two has faced the same issue, with many staff and key animators revealing terrible working conditions.
Sota Shigetsugu, who worked as a key animator on episodes 14 and 16 of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2, said this via his Twitter:
“The worst cycle is when the staff members all somehow manage to complete a schedule that would be impossible to meet under normal circumstances, while seeing hell, and the higher-ups who only saw the results misunderstand and neglect to improve, thinking ‘It’s not that bad, it can be done!’ I wonder if the beginning of this was when they completed a movie in four months…”
Hakuyu Go, who is also involved in the production of the series, said:
When leaving the company, throw the card key into the company’s trash bin.”
As it stands, many animators are giving up due to the bad working conditions in Mappa, and it would be interesting to see how long it takes before the production stops altogether.
What happened in episode 22 of Jujutsu Kaisen?
Jujutsu Kaisen season two recently released episode 22 of the series titled “Metamorphosis Part Two,” which gave us a new anime original fight.
The episode contains an anime cannon fight scene between Choso and Kenjaku, and fans appreciate it as it puts more depth into Choso’s fighting abilities.
The episode starts with Kenjaku arriving and consuming Mahito to get even stronger. We also got information about his past and the connection between Itadori and Choso.
Choso deduced that Kenjaku was involved in the birth of Yuji, which made him his little brother, and therefore, he joined his side to take down Sukuna.
However, Kenjaku overwhelmed Choso, and with the arrival of Uraume, the fight almost seemed to be over until special-grade sorcerer Yuki arrived on the scene and saved everyone from getting massacred.
