It seems like the only way for Mangaka Sui Ishida, after working on his superhit manga series Tokyo Ghoul, is up and waaay above others’ expectations, considering how his most recent work is gaining the same acclamation. In fact, after Ken Kaneki’s blockbuster saga from the early 2010s, fans are all set to explore this new work of the mangaka fairly soon.

This comes after the results of the MyAnimeList poll came out for the top 20 manga series that readers most desperately wish to see adapted into animation. And surprisingly enough (or perhaps unsurprisingly?!), one of the manga series in the top 3 of this list is none other than Ishida sensei’s latest piece of masterwork winning fans over, Choujin X.

Sui Ishida’s Choujin X is Among the Top 3 of the Most Wanted Anime Projects!

Recently, MyAnimeList, which is inevitably “the biggest online database for anime and manga,” shared the results of the poll it conducted on “Manga That Should Be Anime.” This included a list of twenty manga series out of which readers had to vote for the one they most wanted to see transformed into animation.

Out of all these 20, one entry included Ishida sensei’s most recent massively commended masterpiece manga series, Choujin X. And for one that has been getting serialized rather irregularly in Shueisha’s Tonari no Young Jump website for nearly three years since May 2021, this series scored the third place in this poll (via Anime Senpai).

This manga from Sui Ishida sensei stars Tokio and Azuma, two childhood friends, who live in a world where superpowers exist for real. But everything becomes much more tumultuous when Tokio becomes a Choujin following a terrorist attack, resulting in him and Azuma eventually discovering a hidden society of superpowered individuals, each of whom has their own agendas.

With a storyline as interesting as this one after the exceptional gem that was Tokyo Ghoul, Ishida sensei has unarguably garnered an even more tremendous fan following. This stands, judging from how readers got so deeply engulfed in this fictional saga to the point where they are now desperately awaiting its anime version!

Other Manga Series Fans Can’t Wait to Get an Anime Adaptation of

While Choujin X is indeed one of the most wanted anime projects among fans (which is, needless to mention, a huge feat for Ishida sensei), the other manga series among the top 3 are nothing short of spectacular pieces of work either. These include fan-favorite projects from mangakas Saka Mikami sensei and Yuto Suzuki sensei.

The first one on this list is the shonen fantasy manga from Suzuki sensei, Sakamoto Days, which features the story of the ex-assassin Taro Sakamoto. Following this series in this list is Mikami sensei’s fan-beloved shonen romance school story, The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity, which told the heartfelt tale of Rintarou Tsumugi and Kaoruko Waguri.

Then there are the other series in the top 10, which include (from fourth position) Kei Urana’s Gachiakuta, Yuto Sano’s Gokurakugai, Ryō Minenami’s Shounen no Abyss, You Chiba’s Kindergarten WARS, Q Hayashida’s Dai Dark, Mizuki Yoda and Jōmyaku’s Marriagetoxin, and Hiromu Arakawa’s Daemons of the Shadow Realm.

As manga readers must already know, all of these series have managed to pique fans’ interest to the core. This is why this win of Sui Ishida sensei is even more special, for he scored some of the maximum positive reviews for his latest project as well, just like he did with his early 2010 fan-favorite series, Tokyo Ghoul!
