The Mission Impossible star has been at this game for over thirty years now and is still going strong. However, it’s not just his charismatic personality and beautiful face, but the copious amount of ‘blood and sweat’ that he has put into his career that made him the man he is today.
Even after living through a highly successful career making ‘nail-biting’ action blockbusters with a sense of panache like no other, there is one man he feels he has to replace. He is no other than Star Wars legend Harrison Ford.
Ford has been pushing the limits of his acting career at 80 with Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny – the fifth installment in the franchise released recently. Considering the sheer amount of dedication both actors like to put into their projects, Cruise feels he needs to step up his game if he wants to replace Ford in the long game.
Tom Cruise Wants To Be The Last Man Standing
A rather strong reason why the Top Gun star is famously known as ‘Hollywood’s last real movie star’ is that he is quite an ‘old-fashioned’ man when it comes to his work. His dedication to films and punctuality with schedules have outmatched almost all his co-stars’ efforts. While most of them have either lost the battle with age or have retired from acting, Tom Cruise just doesn’t know when he would stop!
According to him, out of the many things on his bucket list, the one thing that rather stands out is ‘replacing’ the veteran star Harrison Ford.
During the Australian Premiere of his latest – Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part 1, the 61-year-old actor shared that hopes to match the legacy that Harrison Ford has created over his long film career.
“Harrison Ford is a legend; I hope to be still going; I’ve got 20 years to catch up with him,” Cruise said. “I hope to keep making Mission: Impossible films until I’m his age.”
What Is Tom Cruise Watching First – Oppenheimer Or Barbie?
Cruise has always been under the impression that the cinema experience cannot be matched by streaming services. With both Barbie and Oppenheimer opening on the same day – July 20, the actor feels that they could jump-start people’s drive to go out to the movies again.
He shared –
“I grew up seeing movies on the big screen. That’s how I make them, and I like that experience; it’s immersive, and to have that as a community and an industry, it’s important,” Cruise said. “I still go to the movies.”
The question however is which out of the two films is Tom Cruise going to be seeing first?
To which he said –
“I want to see both Barbie and Oppenheimer. I’ll see them opening weekend. Friday I’ll see Oppenheimer first and then Barbie on Saturday.”
