As much as Tom Cruise is known for presenting incredible stories on-screen, the actor has also been surrounded by plenty of drama on his own. And it once again took a hike after reports from earlier this year suggested that he has been estranged from his daughter, Suri Cruise, since 2013. The Mission Impossible star shares Suri Cruise with his ex-wife, Katie Holmes. The couple was together for nearly six years before they decided to split.
While several reasons have been speculated behind their split, a later claim by Ron Miscavige seems to confirm one of them. The father of the ‘Church of Scientology’ leader has claimed that Tom Cruise’s daughter would have been estranged from her mother if she was raised within Scientology.
Scientology’s Impact on Tom Cruise’s Relationship With His Daughter Revealed
Among several reasons for Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes‘ split, one persistent claim has been that the latter did not want her daughter to be raised as a Scientologist. The actress reportedly took a different approach from Nicole Kidman, who lost her two adoptive children with Tom Cruise after their divorce.
And Ron Miscavige, the father of the Scientology leader, David Miscavige, has reportedly confirmed the fear. As per Daily Mail, Ron Miscavige has claimed that Holmes might have been estranged from her daughter, Suri Cruise, if the ex-couple continued to raise her as a Scientologist. He said,
“The big issue really was raising Suri as a Scientologist. If that happened, some day it was a possibility that she would disconnect from Katie.”
He also shared that he has had a similar experience with the Church of Scientology, stating that he has been disconnected from his family since he left the church in 2012. The same is claimed to have happened with Nicole Kidman as well, as she is reportedly not in touch with her children, Connor and Bella Cruise, who primarily lived with Cruise after their divorce.
Nicole Kidman’s Estranged Relationship With Her Adopted Children
Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise were married for 11 years before they ended their relationship in 2001. During their time together, the ex-couple adopted two children, Bella Cruise, in 1993 and their son Conner Cruise, a few years later.
However, following their split, the kids reportedly decided to live with their father and were raised in the Church of Scientology. And the actress has said that she respects their decision to be Scientologists and still loves them.
Despite this, there have been claims that she was banned from her son Conner’s wedding ceremony, and the same was reported to be the case for her daughter Bella. While their son reportedly continues to be in the Scientology community, both of them have also chosen to remain out of the spotlight.
