Michael Carter, aka Booster Gold, is a time-traveling superhero from the 25th Century. Booster Gold was supposed to make an on-screen debut much earlier, but the Syfy TV series announced in 2011 never came to fruition. When James Gunn announced the first part of Gods and Monsters, fans were surprised by a few projects, including the Booster Gold TV show.

While an actor is yet to be confirmed for the project, fans want Gunn to consider one actor who shined in his role alongside Tom Cruise in Top Gun: Maverick. The fan choice is Glen Powell, and the Instagram artist, @subi.ozil, has made it easy for The Suicide Squad director to visualize Powell as Michael Carter.

Subi Özil’s version of Booster Gold features Powell in a green and gold suit, which is a combination of armor and leather. It’s a comic-accurate depiction of the superhero from the future who saves President Ronald Reagan’s life. Interestingly, a tease for the Booster Gold series was already placed in the DC film, Blue Beetle. In the end credits scene of Blue Beetle, a voice transmission is heard revealing that Ted Kord is alive and is trapped somewhere in the future.

In the comics, Booster Gold and Ted Kord, aka the second Blue Beetle, are friends and crime-fighting partners. While the film itself is not part of the DCU, the Guardians of the Galaxy director announced that the Blue Beetle character will feature in the new universe.

The inclusion of Booster Gold is a clear indication that the studio is moving away from its previous dark tone and embracing a more comedic approach. Devoted DC fans know that Booster Gold isn’t an actual superhero but uses future technology to travel back in time to pretend to be a superhero. Peter Safran called him a “loser”, while James Gunn shared, “Basically, Booster Gold is imposter syndrome as a superhero.” (via Variety)

Earlier, Blue Beetle director Ángel Manuel Soto disclosed to ScreenRant that Booster Gold will be the show that integrates Jaime Reyes and Ted Kord into the DCU mix. The show has not yet announced a showrunner or any attached writers. Fans will have to wait until later next year for any updates on the same.
