However, the ending of the Loki Season 2 has left fans uncertain about what his future holds in the MCU.
While there have been discussions of Hiddleston potentially returning for future projects, one prominent speculation revolves around his involvement in the sixth Avengers film. Although nothing has been officially confirmed, rumors suggest that Loki may reunite with his brother Thor and the other Avengers in the upcoming MCU projects.
Tom Hiddleston’s Reportedly Returning to MCU With Secret Wars
Tom Hiddleston’s Loki, one of the earliest villains in the MCU, has gone through notable character development throughout his journey in the franchise. And while Loki season 2 has been anticipated to conclude his arc in the MCU, there are still speculations about his return to the franchise.
Reports from scooper @MyTimeToShineHello have fueled these speculations as they claimed that Hiddleston would certainly return in Secret Wars. “I confirmed he’ll have a huge role in Secret Wars,” they confidently stated in a tweet celebrating the Marvel star’s 43rd birthday last week.
Fans are also anticipating Loki to reunite with Chris Hemsworth’s Thor in the upcoming Avengers film. The recently released trailer of Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool & Wolverine has also stirred excitement among fans, considering the film seemed to be heavily revolving around the Time Variant Authority.
Tom Hiddleston Suggested His MCU Journey Might Not be Over Yet
While Loki’s story in the MCU has seemed to come full circle, Tom Hiddleston’s journey in the MCU appears far from over, with speculation mounting about his potential return in upcoming projects. Reports suggest that Hiddleston could reprise his role as Loki in significant crossover events like the upcoming Avengers movies.
Hiddleston has teased the potential return of the character as he shared during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. “Speaking for myself, Loki’s died a few times. I’m still here,” he said before adding, “I don’t know that death is necessarily—death is up for grabs, as an existential question.”
The actor has also suggested the same in an interview with ComicBook.com, as he said that it would be “unwise” to assume that Loki’s journey is over in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He said,
“It’s been like the role of a lifetime,’ and they’ve written notes back saying, ‘Come and see us anytime. You’re always part of the family. We’re always here. You’ve given us so much and tears have been shared.’ So I think I’d be unwise at this point to be conclusive about any of it.”
Although both Hiddleston and Hemsworth have not officially joined any upcoming projects as of yet, their potential reunion could provide a fresh dynamic to their relationship. The Loki actor has also suggested, “I think initially it would be really confusing, but also they’d been apart for a long time, and no doubt they’ve been objects in each other’s mind.” Fans eagerly anticipate how their reunion might unfold after all this time, particularly after the significant character development of Loki.
