With God of War: Ragnarok, the story of Norse mythology came to an end. But the most surprising fact of the game is how Kratos defeated Heimdall. It only happened due to his experience with spears. His proficiency reached a certain level where he did not have to think before he attacked. He does it naturally and does not need much time. So, it makes him harder to predict. Opponents will have to think about where his spear will land.
This was one of the reasons why Heimdall was defeated by Kratos. Heimdall reads the thoughts of his opponents, but with Draupnir, Kratos goes back to his Spartan days. He did not think before attacking. He just attacked based on his instincts. Heimdall was new to this since he needed time to predict his movements. Thus, he became more concentrated on reading than winning the actual fight.

Instead, he just dodged them. His arrogance blinded him. When Kratos was using Draupnir, Heimdall was simply dodging his attacks, not knowing that Draupnir could make explosions.

One of the explosions distracted him, and Kratos landed his first blow. This made Heimdall angry. Anger made him lose his focus and caused him to blindly attack without calculating his next moves. This made Kratos’ work easier. Our beloved God of War soon started to pound him, which made Heimdall more angry and reckless. Ultimately, Kratos finished him off by choking him.
These two theories make it easier to understand how Kratos could defeat Heimdall in God of War: Ragnarok. Kratos’ spear and his own arrogance were too much for him to handle. It was a turning point in God of War: Ragnarok, which made the fans think that Odin could also be defeated.
