RGG Studio’s Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is one of the highly-anticipated games launching this year. The game is only days away from release and RGG Studio has gone all out to promote the game and has been releasing brief videos about the game’s protagonists, features, and more. The studio even launched an ad featuring American comedian and actor Druski.
The studio has also partnered with content creators and streamers to showcase the latest entry in the series and reach a larger audience but one promotional strategy has backfired on the studio. RGG Studio also collaborated with popular Twitch and Kick streamer, xQc to promote the game and is now facing backlash from the fans.
Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth Fans Upset With RGG for Collaborating With xQc
Felix “xQc” Lengyel is a popular Canadian streamer and former Overwatch esports player who also recently was in the limelight for his nearly $100 million streaming deal with Kick. RGG Studio announced via X/Twitter that it has collaborated with the popular streamer to promote Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth where he played the game’s opening on Twitch as part of the sponsored stream.
As much as RGG’s intentions behind this were good as it wanted to reach a new audience, fans of the popular franchise criticized the studio for sponsoring xQc, mentioning that he has never been a fan of the series with many pointing out that the streamer has also called the series trash several times.
Moreover, it has also been pointed out that the streamer had no idea that the game was turn-based. Fans of the franchise argued that xQc has no appreciation or knowledge of the game and this is somehow killing the hype for the game.
Even a former developer who worked at the studio in the past called out RGG in a now-deleted X/Twitter post and said that the streamer is the “worst choice” to choose as a sponsor for the game. Players also added that there are many other streamers with whom the studio could have collaborated and they are better suited than xQc for the game.
I love yall, but XQC? Who doesn't play these types of games, and went on record before saying these games are trash? Come on now.
I guess a reach to a new type of audience.— Mgs2master2 (@mgs2master2) January 20, 2024
Players added that RGG wasted its money going with xQc to promote the game. Fans added that he had never played these games and is just doing it for the money with a player coining choosing xQc, “What an absolutely terrible pick of someone to preview your game.” However, some fans thought otherwise saying that people are getting mad at someone for just playing a game.
Many also added that RGG Studio could not have picked a better person to promote the game and they loved the stream but some also called xQc the “worst influencer.” Gamespot’s Tamoor Hussain also shared a clip on X/Twitter where xQc was seen waiting for an enemy to attack him, unaware of the fact that the game is turn-based, adding that it is “very funny.”
you waste your money with him, he never played this yakuza games , he just doing it for money

xQc has also reacted to the comments on RGG Studio’s official X/Twitter announcement of the collaboration and said that he can’t understand what’s going on and people are just mad at him for playing a game.
It is kind of clear that xQc’s collab with RGG will not help the game much in terms of sales and popularity and his involvement in numerous controversies and questionable statements does not help either. Many also believe that the streamer was not even interested in playing the game.
