Baldur’s Gate 3 took the gaming world by storm on its first release and went on to win numerous accolades that cemented its position in gaming history. The title improved upon the mechanics of the previous iterations that made it a beloved franchise, offering players an RPG experience unlike any other.
It’s a pretty intensive game, so the fact that the Steam Deck can run it at all is impressive. Not only is it functional, but it is fully verified and has achieved the top position on the Steam Deck Top 100 Games List for 2023–2024!
Valve’s List has Some Surprise Inclusions Aside from Baldur’s Gate 3
The list was released on Steam parallel to the start of the Steam Spring Sale, which ends on March 21. Steam has compiled the names of all the most played games based on the highest daily active player count between March 2023 and 2024. The lineup includes games that are verified for the Steam Deck and even those that are not.
Topping the chart, as we said before, is Larian Studio’s Baldur’s Gate 3. While it does push the Steam Deck to its limits, the game is undeniably fun, and a few hours can feel like a few minutes when immersed in the world. Second on the list, almost the exact opposite when it comes to system requirements, is Vampire Survivors. The roguelike bullet-hell game is an amazing time-sink title that enables quick games in a charming package.
It’s surprising to see Palworld ranked so low, appearing below Dave the Diver, Hogwarts Legacy, and Elden Ring. One would think a Pokémon-inspired game would be a hit on the handheld, but the numbers don’t lie.
Another system-heavy game on the list is Cyberpunk 2077. After a disastrous launch, the game has turned the tide with numerous updates and even a full DLC expansion. GTA 5 is also on the list, followed by Stardew Valley. At number 10, we have Red Dead Redemption 2.
The List Shows How Many Titles are Fully Functional on The Steam Deck
Every title is accompanied by one of three icons indicating the game’s compatibility with the Steam Deck. A green check mark means it has been verified and is entirely compatible; a yellow exclamation indicates it is playable, but some aspects may not function as intended; and a gray stop symbol indicates it has yet to be tested for the system.
Gray does not mean the game is unplayable; it’s just that Steam cannot verify how well it will perform on the handheld system. Thankfully, there are only two grays in the collection. Right at the bottom of the list, we have Rocket League, which is surprising given the popularity of the title.
Valve is constantly verifying new games for the Steam Deck, so we can expect the rankings to change in the coming months. But, for now, Baldur’s Gate 3 has yet another spotlight on it!
