Despite five movies in, the Sony cinematic universe is still yet to have a sense of direction. And with Madame Web becoming a colossal failure, the future of this universe will highly depend on how Venom 3 turns out. And like every other Sony movie released since the advent of this cinematic universe, Tom Hardy’s Venom: The Last Dance is also rumored to star Spider-Man in some capacity.
And per a new rumor, we might see Hardy’s Venom taking on the web-head in the threequel, which might end with the symbiote becoming a father figure to Peter Parker.
Venom Is Rumored to Take Peter Parker Under His Wing in the Threequel
From Ben Parker in the Raimi films to Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark and Happy Hogan in the MCU, Peter Parker has had various father figures in the realm of live-action. With Andrew Garfiled’s Spider-Man speculated to appear in Venom 3, per 4chan rumor, Eddie and the symbiote will try to kill the webhead after having a vision of being killed by different iterations of Spidier-Man.
However, this alleged conflict will be resolved after the duo find out that Peter Parker is still a kid, as a result, Eddie and the symbiote would take Parker under his wing, and become a father figure to him.
For numerous reasons, this rumor sounds unlikely. If Andrew Garfield indeed reprises his role in the threequel, considering he will be a far more mature Peter Parker, as seen in No Way Home, it’s unlikely he will have a father figure in the movie. But keeping in mind that nothing is certain, not even Garfield’s appearance, nothing can be ruled out until something substantial comes out.
Andy Serkis on Why He Isn’t Returning for Venom 3
Andy Serkis, who helmed the previous two Venom releases, won’t be reprising his role as the third’s director, instead, Kelly Marcel, who wrote the previous two movies, will be the one directing. While The Batman Star expressed that he had a lot of fun making the two Venom movies, starring Tom Hardy, he is currently busy working on the animated adaptation of George Orwell’s Animal Farm.
He told /Film:
“Look, I had a ball doing [Venom: Let There Be Carnage]. Tom Hardy is such a good friend of mine, and I felt very proud of the work, and we had such fun doing it. I’ve got so many projects that I was just about to [work on], like ‘Animal Farm’ for instance. We were just about to go into production with that, and then we delayed as ‘Venom’ came up. But I’m really delighted that Kelly’s doing that. She’s so in control of that material with Tom. The pair of them are such a great team to work with.”
Like fans, Serkis is also excited about the new direction that the threequel takes. But keeping in mind the previous rumors surrounding other Sony releases ended up having no truth to them, one should take the rumors surrounding Venom 3 with a pinch of salt.
Venom: The Last Dance is slated for a release on 25 October 2024.
