As Comic book antagonists are often filled to the brim with personality while possessing a trait that makes them memorable to the audience, the character of The Penguin from DC Comics has always been seen having a lit cigar in his mouth which he smokes almost constantly.

Thus, Collin Farrell wanted to incorporate that trait when he played the antagonistic character in Robert Pattinson‘s The Batman in 2022, which Warner Bros. was strictly against, even denying his heavily pushed request for source accuracy.
