Gunn has recently unveiled the complete cast of the upcoming superhero movie after the first table read of the script. Now, he has revealed the real inspiration for Corenswet’s Superman Suit. Of course, the new Superman suit will be very much different from Zack Snyder’s version of the suit.

Superman: Legacy has been one of the most hyped movies since its announcement, and it has every reason to be. After James Gunn’s idea of a new DCU hit the media, the excitement for the first movie of the newer version of the upcoming cinematic universe has been on top. Also, Gunn has been teasing details of the movie among fans. Now, the director revealed the real inspiration behind the new Superman suit.
Responding to a fan on Threads, the DC boss has revealed that the new Superman suit was inspired by popular artist Alex Ross. With the Threads response, Gunn has not revealed much about the suit, but fans can have a glimpse of what the new livery might look like.
The new Superman actor of Gunn’s DCU, David Corenswet recently shared the first look of the Ross-inspired outfit showing off the iconic Superman logo with dark red and yellow (not vibrant bright) mildly covered in snow. The new look of the Superman suit has drawn the attention of DC fans adding up to the hype of the movie.

In another update, Gunn revealed that he has changed the title of the upcoming movie. The DC boss changed the title of the movie on the first day of filming the Corenswet-starrer DC flick. Gunn revealed on his Instagram that the movie will be called just Superman now.
“Overjoyed to be announcing the start of principal photography on SUPERMAN today, February 29, which just so happens to be – coincidentally and unplanned – Superman’s birthday. When I finished the first draft of the script, I called the film Superman: Legacy. By the time I locked the final draft, it was clear the title was SUPERMAN. Making our way to you July 2025,” Gunn wrote on his Instagram.
The title change, per Gunn, has a remarkable significance to the narrative he wrote. Of course, the good news is the movie is in production with a reported production budget of $364 million moving on the right track towards the slated release.
Gunn’s Superman is scheduled to hit the theaters on July 25, 2025.
