The DC verse has been in critical turmoil for years now. Despite the characters, cast, and even occasionally good storytelling, the DC Extended Universe has been struggling to keep up with its arch nemesis MCU. With James Gunn and Peter Safran, there was a hope that DC might climb back up to its past glory. However, with the recent The Flash fiasco, there were rumors that WB might potentially be looking to get its hands off the DC verse for good.

Hence, the rumors started of Warner Bros forcing the Suicide Squad director to introduce more characters into his latest venture Superman: Legacy. Of course, the illustrious director once again took to social media to quench these unpleasant rumors.

Gunn took to the recently launched Threads platform and responded to fan questions and theories. In response to the mentioned rumor, he replied, “Of course not.”

There James Gunn quelled all such rumors of Warner Bros. selling off the celebrated superhero universe. Looks like, despite the losses it has faced in recent years, WB still has high hopes from the Gunn-Safran duo to restore the DC Extended Universe.

James Gunn is all set to begin the shoot of his first DC film since becoming a DC co-head. Superman: Legacy would be a new take on the Superman mythos starring David Corenswet as the Caped Kryptonian. The film will also have other DC characters like Green Lantern Guy Gardner, Mister Terrific, and Hawkgirl. It is also speculated that he might even introduce newer characters.

When fans asked the filmmaker why he would introduce and include new characters when the story is supposed to be concerning the Kryptonian hero, he replied,

Scheduled to be released on July 11, 2025, Superman: Legacy is one of the most anticipated DC films, and fans and critics can’t wait to see Gunn and Safran’s vision for the DC universe.
