A special message was shared by Kaiju No. 8’s official X(Formerly Twitter) account talking about the release of the anime series in 2023. In the message, Kaiju No. 8’s anime director Shigeyuki Miya talked about how Naoya Matsumoto’s series and its main character Kafka Hibino helped him when he felt bleak.

Miya stated: 

“We are in the midst of turbulent times, and many people feel as if they are the only ones being left behind as the ‘normal’ things we used to know are disappearing one by one. To be honest, I felt the same way. At that time, I suddenly read Kaiju No. 8. I instantly became a big fan of Kafka, the main character who used to be on this side of things, and the passionate ensemble drama. After going through various twists and turns, I have reached the point where I am today.”

According to Miya, many people feel lonely and left behind as the world is moving too fast for them. He felt the same thing and at that time he started reading Kaiju No. 8 manga which helped him a lot in reaching the point where he is today.
