Recently, one of Barrera’s fans took to her X handle @worshipthisluvv to share through thread tweets what the Mexican actress shared with her during a recent fan meet. One of these threads included the Carmen star saying:

This comes after Barrera was fired from the Scream franchise reportedly because of the pro-stance she took with Palestine on social media regarding the war that is currently raging in Gaza.
However, it seems like that firing has far from affected her, considering how fast she has been progressing forward ever since, including her recently released horror/thriller movie Abigail, for one to count.
Moreover, this decision of hers to switch lanes and jump into an LGBTQ project further contributes to a legacy one of her peers in the entertainment industry started: Kristen Stewart, who made the first lesbian rom-com in Hollywood, Happiest Season.
All of this being said and judging from just the actress she has proven to be through all her masterpiece performances, fans believe Melissa Barrera can absolutely nail it with this newest project of hers which is currently in the writing.

Needless to say, judging from these comments, Melissa Barrera’s involvement in a lesbian romance comedy project is exactly what fans had been wanting to see from her all along.
