Stephen Amell’s Code 8 Sequels are Killing it on Netflix
Following the release of Robbie and Stephen Amell’s Code 8 in 2019, which served as an adaptation of a sci-fi short film of the same name, the movie turned into a massive hit, among fans. Witnessing the success of the superhero sci-fi film, the Amell cousins soon came up with a sequel to the story in 2024. Releasing Code 8: Part II in February, the Amells took over Netflix with their sequels.
Revolving around Robbie Amell’s Connor Reed, a construction worker with superpowers who uses his potential to join an organized crime ring and pay for his dying mother’s treatment, the first movie creates a massive fandom. Further, following up on the superhero sci-fi concept, the sequel placed Reed and Garrett (Stephen Amell), on a mission alongside a young girl, against a disgraced police officer who killed her brother.
Starring in both films and producing the second installment, the Amell cousins’ sci-fi sequels took over Netflix, within a few days following Code 8: Part II’s release on February 28. Acquiring second (Code 8: Part II) and fourth (Code 8) position on the global top 10 list of the streamer, Robbie and Stephen Amell’s films break records.
Robbie and Stephen Amell Address Potential Third Film
Of course the Code 8 films aren’t Robbie or Stephen Amell’s first take in the superhero world, since both actors have previously appeared in DC’s Arrowverse TV shows. But, as their superhero sci-fi film and its sequel turn into a massive hit, fans look back at the Amells’ interview at Orlando’s MegaCon. Appearing at the event ahead of their Code 8 sequel release, the Amell cousins seemingly teased a third installment, while addressing fans’ questions.
According to CBR’s exclusive interview with Robbie and Stephen Amell at the MegaCon panel, the duo was asked if “there will be a part 3?”. Addressing the question, the Amell cousins touched upon the possibility of a potential threequel, without giving out much about the movie.
“We barely just scratched the surface.” Stephen Amell hinted.
“World building is such a cool part of what you’re reading. We even introduce a new power in part 2.” Robbie Amell teased.
Giving out subtle hints about how they have barely scratched the surface of the film’s storyline with two sequels, the Amell cousins seemingly teased further installments. Once they come up with a better storyline and new powers to introduce, the Amell cousins might end up turning Code 8 into a threequel. With unbound possibilities, fans are looking forward to learning more about future Code 8 movies, from the Amell cousins.
