Being a woman in Hollywood means experiencing some of the most uncomfortable moments from time to time. Emmy Rossum too has experienced her fair share of ups and downs. Despite gaining massive fame thanks to her role in Shameless, there have been moments where she found herself regretting ever taking part in some role or auditioning for another.
There are times when actresses get reduced to their bodies and audition processes don’t really matter. Emmy Rossum found herself in a similar position when she was offered a movie. Actresses throughout the world have been asked before to do certain things they do not like and she was no different. So much so that even her agent was embarrassed about it.
Emmy Rossum was Told She Did Not Have to Audition
Emmy Rossum is known primarily for her role as Fiona Gallagher in Shameless. Those who have watched the series know just how wonderful of an actress she is, so there can often be moments when she is offered a movie without having to audition for the part at all. While talking to The Hollywood Reporter during a Roundtable conversation, she revealed just how ugly things had gotten for her.
“I’m so embarrassed to make this call, but there’s a big movie and they’re going to offer it to you. They really love your work on the show. But the director wants you to come into his office in a bikini. There’s no audition. That’s all you have to do.”
Her agent had called her exclaiming that there was a role in a rather big movie that Rossum was being offered. However, there was a catch. The director had demanded for her to show up in a bikini. She would not have to audition for the role, that is all she would do, and get the part just as easily.
Emmy Rossum Found No Relation of the Demand to her Role
Continuing to explain what had happened, she was shocked at first. Elaborating on The Hollywood Reporter, she added that Emmy Rossum asked for the script to at least see if the part was worth it. Not only that, she also wanted to check if the request was relevant to her role at all.
“We really love your work, but we just want to see how tight your a** is.”
Surprisingly, it was not, all the director wanted to see was how fat she had gotten. Although they had watched her works, it was just a demand to check whether or not her body was compatible with their needs.
