The Matthew Vaughn-helmed Kingsman franchise is slated to welcome another installment in the main series, currently in development. The third film and a sequel to Kingsman: The Golden Circle was previously envisioned for a 2023 release. However, after several delays, reports from last year confirmed that the endeavor’s production will only begin in 2024.

In hoping to satiate the doubts of anticipating fans, the 52-year-old filmmaker offered a recent update on Kingsman 3, which boasts the working title of, ‘Kingsman: The Blue Blood.’ Shedding light on the project’s progress, the Argylle alum confirmed that the movie’s beginning and end are set; the only portion that needs furnishing is the midsection.
There’s a catch, though. In his thrilling statement, guaranteed to satisfy most of the audience, Vaughn underscored an issue that may haunt the franchise if it takes more time for the threequel to be brought to reality. And it has something to do with leading stars Colin Firth and Taron Egerton’s ages!
Kingsman 3: Matthew Vaughn Eager To Get Film Done Before Leading Stars Turn Too Old
It has been over six years since the world witnessed Kingsman: The Golden Circle. Since then, reports about the prospects of a threequel tying up the journey of Harry Hart (Colin Firth) and Eggsy (Taron Egerton) have kept audiences hopeful about the concluding chapter of the trilogy centered around the central characters’ relationship.
While a prequel film titled The King’s Man was offered in 2021, it wasn’t as beloved as the first film in the franchise, nor could it replicate the commercial success of its two predecessors.
Recently, the filmmaker and helmer behind the action-comedy series has extended an enticing update validating the pre-production progress of Kingsman 3. Vaughn revealed to Collider that the initiative’s beginning and end have been well-defined and are presently being written. Act Two is what needs working on.
There’s only one problem.

Shedding light on Colin Firth and Taron Egerton’s age—where they might get too old if more time is taken to set the production into motion—Matthew Vaughn stressed the urgency of having the endeavor made:
“So Kingsman 3, we’ve got to get on with before Colin [Firth] is way too old, and dare I say it, Taron’s [Egerton] getting on as well. So, Kingsman 3 is definitely the conclusion of their relationship. Act one is being written. Act three is being written. Act Two needs some work, right? And so we know how it ends, we know how it begins.”
Previous speculations on Kingsman 3 suggested a 2023 release. However, delays posed obstructions. Last year, Matthew Vaughn implied (via ScreenRant) that its filming would take place in 2024—a relieving piece of news for those who thought the third installment was lost in the developmental abyss.
With this recent statement, there’s one particularly vital takeaway: more time cannot be spared for the project to enter production and take concrete shape. Nevertheless, with only the mid-section of the premise requiring fix-up, one could assume that Kingsman 3 is on the right track and will soon rise beyond development hell.

Although plot details are scarce, a statement made by Matthew Vaughn last year may imply where the Harry Hart-Eggsy saga is headed.
Throughout the first two movies, Egerton’s on-screen character undergoes an arc characterized by immense development, ultimately finding his “purpose.” At the core of this journey towards growth was Colin Firth’s deuteragonist, Harry Hart, the mentor figure to the protagonist of the Kingsman series. Their relationship is one of the many elements intrinsic to the franchise—that has stood out for various reasons.
It only makes sense for Kingsman 3 to center itself around their dynamic. However, there’s an intriguing implication to what Matthew Vaughn hinted (via ScreenRant) while talking about the closing arc for the two characters:
“Imagine if [Eggsy’s] purpose disappears, is all I’ll say. Yeah, the two [Hart-Eggsy] of them need each other one more time.”
A situation in the main series’ third film will necessitate the two needing each other for potentially the last time, with our protagonist’s purpose ‘disappearing.’ One can only wonder what would prompt that. Regardless of what devastation is set to occur, Eggsy and Hart’s relationship is slated to form the heart of the premise, with them reportedly developing a ‘will-they-won’t-they’ dynamic (via Collider).
It remains to be seen when Kingsman 3 enters production. Kingsman: The Secret Service (2014) can be streamed on Max. Meanwhile, the second film, Kingsman: The Golden Circle (2017), is available for buying/renting on Amazon Prime Video.
