Appearing at the Sands Film Festival in Scotland, the actor has confirmed his involvement in the fourth film and even shared that he will always be up for more Spider-Man films. He further assured fans that the upcoming Spidey film would protect the legacy of the $2 billion film No Way Home.
Fans are on cloud nine after the update from Holland, especially since they believed that the film was entangled in some creative conflict between studios. While he hasn’t explicitly said anything, Holland has hinted that the film will be deviating from the multiversal theme of its predecessor.

For months, fans were disappointed about Spider-Man 4‘s development at Marvel and Sony. The studios had different views on the theme of the film. Jon Watts leaving the project didn’t help either, as several directors were rumored to be considered for the film, with none of them being the right fit for both studios. After three years of waiting for another Spider-Man film, fans almost lost hope for the fourth one. Not anymore.
Tom Holland has revealed that the film is very much happening and that he’s involved in the creative process of the film. Speaking to Deadline at the Sands Film Festival, Holland shared that he would “always want to do Spider-Man films”. He shared that the best in the industry is working to develop a story for the film that protects the legacy of the third film. Holland shared with Deadline:
“We have the best in the business working toward whatever the story might be. But until we’ve cracked it, we have a legacy to protect. The third movie was so special in so many ways that we need to make sure we do the right thing.”
The Uncharted actor added that it was his first time being involved in the MCU film this early in the creative process. Holland shared that everyone involved wants the film to happen. However, he revealed that they also wanted to make sure that they were not “overdoing the same things.” Holland shared:
“This is the first time in this process that I’ve been part of the creative so early. It’s just a process where I’m watching and learning. It’s just a really fun stage for me. Like I said, everyone wants it to happen. But we want to make sure we’re not overdoing the same things.”
Holland’s Spider-Man: No Way Home was peak entertainment as it brought back the fan-favorite Spider-Man actors Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield in a multiversal film. The film opened to $260 million at the domestic box office and went on to gross $1.92 billion worldwide (via Box Office Mojo).
Fans Expect Tom Holland’s Spider-Man 4 To Take A Different Direction From The Last Film
Tom Holland has revealed that Spider-Man 4 will not overdo the same things. While he hasn’t said it explicitly, Holland has suggested that it is highly unlikely for the fourth film to go down the multiversal route. Moreover, Holland might not want to share the screen with more Sony or Marvel superheroes in the next film. Fans also want to see a solo Spider-Man film starring Holland, that deals with street-level crimefighting.
Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige earlier wanted the same thing for Spider-Man 4. He also suggested that Peter Parker and Matt Murdock aka Daredevil will headline the street-level storylines of Marvel (via MTV News | X). Fans also expect this collaboration to happen in the next film and they would be okay with Spidey fighting Kingpin in the film.
The film could also delve into Peter Parker’s problems. He has a lot on his plate now — the loss of Aunt May, everyone forgetting who he is, college, and other life problems — alongside crimefighting. Holland’s update has given fans hope about seeing a grounded superhero film rather than a star-studded multiverse film.
