Hollywood heartthrob Glen Powell and Puerto Rican actress Adria Arjona recently collaborated on their first movie together: A comedy-action masterpiece titled Hit Man. But that’s hardly the case when you get to know the behind-the-scenes fiasco, especially for those particular intimate scenes. Why? Well, because what these two fan-favorite actors had to go through just to shoot those scenes must have been nothing short of hell, considering how they were in “so much pain;” learning about which would change your thoughts on those scenes being sexy at all.

The Intimate Scenes in Hit Man were Anything but Sexy for Glen Powell and Adria Arjona

When you look at the two onscreen as Gary Johnson and Maddy Masters in Hit Man, you won’t be able to deny the chemistry they share, which makes even their intimate shots in the film seem real. However, the truth is that Powell and Arjona actually had to go through a lot just to get those right.

For instance, they had to sit in water that had Dawn dishwashing soap mixed in it. Really.

During her recent appearance on the Just for Variety podcast, the Puerto Rican actress came clean about the same as she revealed how someone added that dishwasher soap into the bathtub they were shooting in because “that strips you of all your oils of your skin.”

As Adria Arjona candidly revealed while sharing about the behind-the-scenes chaos:

That’s used for baby ducks when there’s an oil spill for God’s sake. We soaked in this bathtub for an hour and I get out of the tub and all of a sudden I dry myself and I can’t bend my knees because I have no oils.

Needless to say, this incident had even more adverse reactions on both of them as she and Glen Powell ended up with rashes on their body as using the dishwashing soap on something as gentle as a human being’s skin backfired.

But the worst part was that the duo had to keep going with the shoot irrespective of how much pain they were in.

According to what the Morbius actress recalled during the same podcast:

That was the day that we filmed all of our s-x scenes – all of them with a crazy rash. We were both in so much pain. We would just die laughing, ‘How much makeup do you have on your a— right now?’ I was like, ‘So much, it’s not even funny.’

Okay, that must hurt really, really bad; worse than anyone’s wildest imagination.

But while this is one, there have been other instances where actors faced problems with their intimate scenes as well — like Michelle Williams did in Blue Valentine or Jennifer Aniston did during her love scenes —  because, simply put, they’re actually tough to begin with, right from the start.

While the requirement of an intimacy coordinator onset to get those scenes right is one thing, actors also have to go through severe emotional as well as physical torment while shooting them because of how unarguably tough they are to be pulled off effortlessly with the consent of both actors.

That said, Arjona also had something to say about how much “fun” she had while filming these particular shots with Powell.

During the same interview, Adria Arjona also explained what she meant by “having fun” while filming those bedroom romps with her “so gracious and such a gentleman” co-star Glen Powell. She said:

We keep saying we had so much fun. People were taking it in a different direction. We had fun because it was so funny. We were both in pain with makeup all over this rash and it was funny.

Now that she has said it out loud, it is actually pretty understandable just what hell this duo must have had to go through just to deliver those steamy scenes perfectly for their audiences. And while this is nothing new in Hollywood, all of this does call for a change in the techniques used nonetheless.
