Chance Perdomo, the brilliant British actor, passed away at the age of 27 in March. His sudden demise has not only been for the production but also for the fans, many of whom were left heartbroken because his career had only started taking off. After starring in Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Killed by My Debt, Perdomo’s recent appearance was in the critically acclaimed Gen V.
With season 2 of Gen V in the works, Perdomo was supposed to reprise his role. However, his untimely death has halted the production and the producers of the show recently revealed they would not be replacing the actor. A decision that fans have been appreciating.
Gen V Will Not be Replacing Chance Perdomo
Starring as Andre Anderson, Chance Perdomo portrayed a young superhero with magnetic manipulation capabilities in The Boys spin-off series, Gen V. Not only did Perdomo do an incredible job, but fans and critics loved the show and his character.
Tragically, the actor passed away in March in a Motorcycle accident at an unknown location. Just 27, his career had just started taking off and he was supposed to start filming the second season of Gen V.
“We can’t quite wrap our heads around this. For those of us who knew him and worked with him, Chance was always charming and smiling, an enthusiastic force of nature, an incredibly talented performer, and more than anything else, just a very kind, lovely person.”
Stated the producers of the show in a joint statement just after his death (via Variety). While fans mourned the loss, many of them were concerned that his legacy in the show would be overtaken by some other actor, for it is not uncommon to replace actors.
However, in a recent update, the producers of the show revealed that won’t be recasting Chance Perdomo’s role.
“We won’t be recasting the role, because no one can replace Chance. Instead, we have been taking the time and space to recraft our aeason 2 storylines as we begin production in May.”
Fans, who were worried till now, are relieved to know that the production of the show cares enough to let Perdomo’s legacy go untouched and unaffected.
Fans React To Gen V Not Replacing Chance Perdomo
We will honor Chance and his legacy this season stated the producers of Gen V in the social media post while paying homage to the late actor. In a world where replacing and recasting is normal and even appreciated by fans, the decision to not replace Chance Perdomo as Andre Anderson is not only surprising but gutsy.
Fans, however, seem to appreciate the show and the crew for their dedication to maintaining the late actor’s legacy and simultaneously paid respect to the late actor and appreciated Gen V producers.
That actually is amazing. It shows you guys actually cared about the actor and not just making money by recasting him and forgetting about him. Good job guys 🙏🏼
