Recently, Vaughn gave an interview, where he spoke on the third part of the Kingman series. While talking about this, giving the long-awaited updates about the status of the film, as well as what can be expected, he drifted from the subject, talking about another much-anticipated project. The director spoke on the Kick-Ass series, as well as teasing that one of the central stars of the series, Nicolas Cage, could, perhaps, come back.

Kingsman Director Teases Kick-Ass Reboot

Kingsman 3 director, Matthew Vaughn, recently hosted a special panel at New York Comic Con, via ScreenRant, where he spoke a bit on what fans of the Kingsman franchise should expect from the upcoming third part of the series, whose title has been revealed to be Kingsman: The Blue Blood. After talking about this, the director went on to tease another upcoming project, a reboot of one of his most iconic projects, Kick-Ass.

“Next year we’re rebooting Kick-Ass and we’re making Kingsman 3… Kick-Ass sort of changed people’s perception of what a superhero film is at that time. So we’re doing it again.”

Kick-Ass was revolutionary for the superhero genre. The film series went against all of the laws of the genre and redefined the way it was seen. Being as significant as it was, it is no surprise that fans have been wanting it to be rebooted. With this, news, many get extremely excited, but Vaughn was quick to knock down their expectations.

Could Nicolas Cage Be Returning?

Kick-Ass featured an impeccable cast, with actors like Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Chloë Grace Moretz, Evan Peters, and most famously, Nicolas Cage featuring in central roles in the series. With the announcement of the reboot, many fans were hoping to see these stars put on their costumes again soon, however, Matthew Vaughn stated that that would not be happening in the reboot.

So it’s none of the characters from the other Kick-Ass. We’d like to bring them back after the reboot, but this reboot is just going off on a tangent that I really can’t talk about. But it’s fun.”

He stated that this film would follow new characters and none from past projects. It wasn’t all bad news for fans who wanted to see actors like Cage back in their roles as Vaughn revealed that he would like to bring all of them back if he could in future projects, that would follow the initial reboot.
