“They’ve been very kind about the book,” Brolin said. “There’s some pros and there’s some poems. And we are having some fun, it incorporates both movies. And we had a very good time and people are liking it. It’s already a bestseller. I actually read some stuff today and I was like, ‘What?! This is what you see?'”

Josh Brolin wrote the poem as part of a new coffee table book, Dune: Exposures, which he created alongside cinematographer Greig Fraser. The book combines Fraser’s behind-the-scenes photography from filming Dune and Dune: Part Two with Brolin’s varied writings reflecting on his experience.

“The way you hold my gaze/makes me fear my own age/Because something in me tells me/You are going to offer me something and for now/I’m not sure/it’s going to be/something/I want anymore.”

While Brolin plays the lethal warrior Gurney Halleck, his poem to Chalamet has tender admiration.

Why Did Josh Brolin Write A Love Poem To Timothée Chalamet?

As per Entertainment Weekly, the poem is intentionally stylistic, part of Brolin’s efforts to capture his Dune experience in different literary forms.

The writing is very different, tonally,” he explained. “Sometimes it’s tongue-in-cheek, sometimes it’s descriptive, sometimes it’s a dialogue and sometimes it’s a poem.”

For Fraser, Brolin’s writing complements his photographs to create a multidimensional view behind the scenes.

“When I read those words next to one of those images, it grows, it makes something more than what those images are by themselves,” Fraser said.

Clearly, the results surprised even Brolin. While Brolin may have been bemused by fans’ reactions, he said they have “been very kind about the book.”

Indeed, many fans have likely enjoyed the rare glimpse Brolin’s work provides into Chalamet’s impact on his co-stars. Few besides Brolin have articulated so evocatively the allure surrounding the 27-year-old actor.
