Although Ezra Miller and Sasha Calle delivered breathtaking performances on screen, the duo previously suffered major criticism from fans. Earlier in 2021, when the director of The Flash announced Calle as Supergirl, alongside Miller, fans instantaneously picked at her suit calling it super weird. Finding a resemblance with a Spiderwoman suit, fans ripped apart the DCU actress, mercilessly.
Sasha Calle Appears As Supergirl In The Flash
Earlier in 2021, Andy Muschietti announced the official addition of the daughter of Superman, to the lineup of DC’s The Flash. Selecting Latina actress Sasha Calle for the role of Supergirl, the director announced the final introduction via Instagram. Going through a talent pool of four hundred auditions Muschietti finally chose Calle for the highly anticipated role.
It was further confirmed that the actress will play the role in not just The Flash, but many other features to come. Finally, starting with shoots and production, Sasha Calle eventually delivered a breathtaking performance onscreen. Released today, on the 16th of June, The Flash featuring Calle alongside the lightning-fast superhero Ezra Miller is anticipated to mesmerize the audience.
Dominating the screen, upon her appearance, Sasha Calle became the highlight of The Flash as the alien aka Supergirl. The relative newcomer brings out the rageful but compassionate Supergirl and breaks barriers as the first Latina actress to ever play the role. Manifesting her role in The Flash into existence, Calle further hopes to return with a pivotal role in Woman of Tomorrow.

Fans Heavily Criticized Sasha Calle’s Suit
Following Sasha Calle‘s film debut in The Flash, the actress is expected to reprise the role in several other upcoming projects. However, irrespective of her daunting performance, which was quite evident even from the trailer of The Flash, the actress initially suffered major criticism. Fans appeared fixated over a Latina actress’ appearance as Supergirl since the character is traditionally a blonde-haired and blue-eyed Kryptonian woman.
It’s not just the actress’ appearance that bothered fans, but even her suit was criticized by netizens, on Twitter. Although a close-up look of her suit shared via Instagram earned praises from fans, leaked images perplexed the audiences as the suit didn’t appear quite as it was expected. Pointing out multiple issues with the way it looks, fans even mentioned how the Supergirl suit had a hard-to-overlook resemblance with the suit of Spiderwoman.

However, in the end, fans appreciated Sasha Calle’s appearance in The Flash. They even found some similarities that made fans believe she is the spitting image of the comical representation of Supergirl, the daughter of Superman.
