The first installment of the series came out in 2003, complete with a star-studded lineup comprising Kiera Knightley and Orlando Bloom, among others. However, Depp stole the show with his charisma and skills, and he reprised the role in the sequels despite the several controversies that surrounded him while he was shooting the fifth film of the franchise.

Since the films have found so much success, the pirate captain has done his part to make dreams come true. Depp appeared on The Ellen Show a few years ago and spoke extensively about how he helped children with illnesses dressed as Jack.

“You know, wherever I go, I bring Captain Jack in a box… You meet all these amazing kids who are dealing with very, very adult illnesses, and you see this incredible courage in their faces, it’s the parents who are just falling apart. So I don’t break character, I just try to sort of do as much stupid stuff to make them laugh,” he told the host.

Depp truly loves the character, and his efforts to help children and their parents are truly noble. However, he does not just limit himself to hospital visits, he helps out in other ways, too.
