Kathryn Newton is a child actress and has been in the industry for quite some time, but it seems she might have finally made it. After starring in projects like Big Little Lies, Supernatural, and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania the actress is back in what fans seem to think will be a definite banger.
Called Lisa Frankenstein, Newton’s latest addition to her filmography is a horror-comedy starring her in the lead along with 1 half of the Sprouse brothers, i.e. Cole Sprouse. While she faced a miserable failure during her debut as a Marvel star, her soon-to-be-released film is expected to hit the mark while franchises like Marvel and DC have been failing.
Kathryn Newton’s Latest Film Trailer Has Fans Convinced It Will Be A Banger
Kathryn Newton had her breakout in the CBS series Gary Unmarried. Ever since then, the actress has shown her acting talents in numerous movies and TV series, garnering quite a bit of praise and acclaim for her abilities. However, when the actress starred in her first Marvel role, as Ant-Man’s daughter Cassie Lang in the 2023 film Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, she was the subject of intense hate.
From her acting to the way her character was written, fans and critics called her out for her ‘dry’ acting (see Daily Goat and Reddit). While certain fans still want her to be recasted and replaced in Marvel and others don’t really care about her character (via X), they are really excited by her latest movie, Lisa Frankenstein.
A horror comedy releasing soon, this is how fans have been reacting to it on social media:
I loved #LisaFrankenstein. Pure love letter to 80’s teen romcoms, and exactly the kind of movie we ask “Why don’t they make movies like that anymore?” pic.twitter.com/qHsXvrWhDX

Lisa Frankenstein was totally my jam. A demented and super horny homage to Tim Burton movies. Kathryn Newton is fully committed in what is arguably her best work to date. It definitely won’t be for everyone but for me, this was such an outrageously fun time at the movies.… pic.twitter.com/k0jM94G2Ww

Been looking forward to Lisa Frankenstein and it didn't disappoint imo. Kathryn Newton & Cole Sprouse were fantastic and Liza Soberano steals the show. A delightfully macabre & fun ride from both Diablo Cody & Zelda Williams. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 #AMCScreamUnseen https://t.co/YdSzu4Xucx pic.twitter.com/M1edgrjNZm

#LisaFrankenstein is—and I mean this as a compliment—absolutely batshit.
A truly fearless, freaky, & horny horror-comedy that’s like Death Becomes Her meets Jughead’s “I’m a weirdo” speech. Kathryn Newton slays again, plus a star-making moment for Liza Soberano. pic.twitter.com/Qjrg9HXcxN

#LisaFrankenstein is bloody, campy fun! Kathryn Newton is a bona fide movie star, and Cole Sprouse excels in physical comedy. Liza Soberano shines as she delivers the film’s best one-liners. Zelda Williams was the perfect person to direct Diablo Cody’s expertly-written script. pic.twitter.com/Z2v10C0opr

Starring as the lead, the early screening and trailer reviews have all been good so far. The whole internet seems to be full of praise for her and her co-stars as well as the catchy storyline that is reminiscent of Tim Burton and his gothic narrative.
What Is Kathryn Newton’s Lisa Frankenstein About?
Written by Diablo Cody and directed by Zelda Williams, Lisa Frankenstein is kind of like a Tim Burton gothic feature but with its own new twist. More of an 80s teen romance drama, the film stars Kathryn Newton as Lisa, Cole Sprouse apparently as a (Zombie/ Live Corpse) as well as Liza Soberano.
Disheartened by her failed attempts at love, it features Lisa growing increasingly attached to a young man’s corpse, who later rises from the dead adding another twist to the already twisted tale. As the two embark on a journey to find happiness and love through Lisa’s humble yet crazy town, the film gets turned into a more full-blown horror and comedy feature.
Apparently inspired by Mary Shelley’s novel Frankenstein, the movie promises a memorable experience filled with some of the most amazing performances and catchy gothic visuals. Newton’s Lisa Frankenstein will be in theatres on February 9, 2024.
