While for some, parenthood is a major step in a couple’s life that upgrades their happiness to the next level, Seth Rogen and his wife, Lauren Miller think otherwise. In a 2021 appearance on The Howard Stern Show, the 39-year-old actor shared how his wife and him have mutually agreed on their decision to not have kids. He claimed that having children might hold him in many things.

He told Stern,

“I wouldn’t be able to do all this work that I like. People are always like — it’s something I think I was uncomfortable answering this before — but they were like, ‘How do you do so much?’ It’s that I don’t have kids … I have nothing else to do.”

Seth Rogen added that his wife is also on a similar page with him.

“She’s okay. She doesn’t want kids. I would say she wants kids less than I do. I could probably be talked into it. She’s like, no.'”

He mentioned how their lack of desire for parenthood has given them much happiness as they don’t have to hold themselves back.

“We have so much fun. I don’t know anyone who gets as much happiness out of their kids as we get out of our non-kids. Like, we’re f–king psyched all the time. We’re laying in bed on Saturday mornings smoking weed, watching movies n-ked. If we had kids, we could not be f–king doing this.”

Having been married for over a decade now, the couple is more open about their decisions on parenthood, which he admitted, having difficulty discussing in the past.

As the duo is not shy to openly share their opinions of remaining child-free, many couldn’t help but feel offended by his statement. Given that he claimed that remaining child-free might give him the freedom to invest his time more in his career, it might bother many who balance their work life with their children.

Many users commented on Pubity’s Instagram post, slamming the actor for his views. One user wrote, “Wish his parents thought the same.”

Another commented, “No, he is absolutely wrong. Being a parent is one of the most lovely and special feelings that anyone can feel in their life.”

A third user wrote, “He is running away from his responsibility.”

Another added, “Not having kids is fine, but not having kids so you can smoke weed in your 40s is pathetic.”

A fifth user took a jibe at him as they wrote, “He’s doing us all a favor by not spreading his genes.”

However, many users supported the duo for being honest with themselves, sharing that having a child-free life is nothing wrong. In an appearance on The Diary of a CEO podcast, he shared similar remarks, pointing out how his decision to remain child-free helped him afford his time and energy on his career.
