Infused with exchanges of wit and playful banter, Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds’ playful feud has captivated audiences for years. With the duo sharing the screen in the highly anticipated Deadpool threequel, they have continued their witty exchanges with the release of its official teaser and title, Deadpool & Wolverine.
Jackman, however, recently shared a Wolverine-approved title for the upcoming film. In a classic display of Deadpool’s trademark humor, Jackman injected a dose of foul-mouthed wit, keeping alive his legendary rivalry with fellow actor Ryan Reynolds.
Hugh Jackman Hilariously Updates the Title of Deadpool & Wolverine
Marvel Studios recently released the official teaser of the highly anticipated Deadpool threequel, along with its title, Deadpool & Wolverine. However, soon after its teaser release, Hugh Jackman playfully tweaked the title of the upcoming Deadpool and Wolverine film in a tweet.
In a humorous move, Jackman jokingly renamed the upcoming film to “Wolverine and A**hole” and commented, “Fixed it” with the tweet. This reversal of the title sequence, reminiscent of Deadpool’s irreverent humor, caused amusement among fans.
The Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds also added to the banter with a light-hearted jab, teasing fans with a unique Deadpool-themed popcorn bucket. “Wait till you see the Deadpool popcorn bucket,” he said, replying to Jackman’s tweet.
The teaser of the film hints at a universe-shattering problem with Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool stepping into the MCU to resolve the issue alongside Time Variance Authority. With Deadpool and Wolverine making their official debut in the MCU, the film is also anticipated to include numerous Marvel cameos.
Shawn Levy Calls the Deadpool & Wolverine Duo ‘Electric’
Like many fans of the highly anticipated film, Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy also couldn’t contain his excitement as he talked about the upcoming film. The filmmaker shared insight into the dynamic between Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman and described their on-screen chemistry as “electric.”
“I knew they were professionals. I knew they were the loveliest of gentlemen, but when you see them as Deadpool and Wolverine, something electric happens,” he said, emphasizing the thrill of witnessing the iconic duo bring their characters to life on-screen. Levy, who is known for movies like Big Fat Liar, also expressed enthusiasm for working on an R-rated project.
“It has corrupted my soul in ways that might be irrevocable,” he said, humorously acknowledging his transition from directing family-friendly films to embracing the edgier tone of Deadpool. “I often joke to Ryan that I was a nice Canadian boy who didn’t work blue … now I’m riffing R-rated content,” he further shared during the interview.
He also shared that he, Reynolds, and Jackman are very “good friends” off-screen and have spent “a lot of time together.” Deadpool & Wolverine features Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman reprising their respective roles in the third installment of the Deadpool film series. The film also marks their official entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Deadpool & Wolverine is set to release on July 26, 2024.
