Miquella’s appearance in Elden Ring: Shadow of The Erdtree is unquestionably the most awaited moment in the game. We don’t know as of the time of writing if Messmer The Impaler is really an incarnation of the character which will be revealed in just a few months, but players aren’t the only ones curious about him. Hopefully, curiosity won’t kill the cat when the truth comes out, or in this case, kill the Tarnished.
The DLC was announced recently, giving the players a glimpse of what’s awaiting them in the shadow lands. Players will get to learn things about the culture that persisted way before the Erdtree came into existence. Interestingly, it all began there, Queen Marika the Eternal was born there.
We Never Know Who’s a Friend or a Foe
We only know of a few characters including a dancing lion, a large human-sucking leech, a large burning basket full of corpses, and more that appeared in the trailer. However, according to Hidetaka Miyazaki, the Japanese creative director, there are way more characters that the Tarnished will encounter in the journey.
Of course the player is not the only one who is curious about Miquella. There are several characters in the world, and NPCs who have been following Miquella as well. And the player will encounter them on their journey in the Land of Shadow, and they will make new friends and enemies, we hope.
Mr. Miyazaki also revealed that the cocoon on the Mohg’s bloody chamber is a sort of point of entry to the Land of Shadow. Mohg, essentially Miquella’s step-brother, kidnapped him while in the cocoon form. His actions are likely to influence the narrative of the Shadow of The Erdtree.
Also, the players need to get past Starscrouge Radahn and Mohg to get access to the Land of Shadow. However, why it is necessary, that Elden Ring’s director left this mystery to be solved by the players.
Some Elden Ring Characters May Rise To Power Again
The list of Elden Ring characters is long many of which are a part of the story but never made it in the flesh. It must not come as a surprise if they appear in the extension. One of them is the mysterious Godwyn the Golden, the scion of the ‘Golden Lineage’ who was murdered by Black Knife Assassins in the narrative. Moreover, the presence of the Deathroot in the DLC’s teaser image may hint at his involvement in it.
Moreover, there are debates about young Queen Marika’s appearance in the game. Besides, she was born there, which raises this possibility and players may get to delve deeper into her story. Other than that, Outer Gods might appear, although not in the flesh like in the base game.
Shadow of The Erdtree is the biggest expansion by FromSoftware to this date and considering the long development, the game will likely deliver a great experience, something that may keep the gamers engaged for long.
