Roman Reigns and The Rock Rumored to Be Taking A Brief Hiatus After WrestleMania XL
WrestleMania XL is finally upon fans and they are ready to witness the grandest match in quite a while. Roman Reigns and The Rock are set to face off against Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins on the first day of WrestleMania. The results of the match will decide how the match between Rhodes and Reigns will go down on Day 2.
The match will be held on April 6-7, 2024 and fans are looking forward to whether Rhodes manages to finish his storyline or not. With the Rock on Reigns’ side, it is certainly not going to be a walk in the park. Recently, popular WWE journalist Dave Meltzer. who was slammed by The Rock regarding going against TKO rules (via Essentially Sports), hinted that Reigns might be taking some time off of WWE after his two-night WrestleMania matches.
Meltzer posited that Reigns has had a grueling schedule leading up to WrestleMania XL and it is likely that he will take a break. Meltzer expects Reigns to be absent from the ring until next year’s Saudi Arabia and the upcoming Summerslam at Cleveland. He wrote in his newsletter, (via Ring Side News)
“I don’t think anyone believes Reigns would retire with a loss, and WWE has taught fans not to believe it, but given his schedule, it’s probable he’d take some time off. Given his limited schedule, one wouldn’t even expect him on a show again until the as yet unannounced next Saudi Arabia show (last word being on 5/25) and the 8/3 SummerSlam show in Cleveland.”
As for the Rock, he has stated to ESPN that he will remain a member of the WWE board after WrestleMania, while writer Brian Gerwirtz believes he will continue to have a presence in WWE even if not regular appearances on the show. He will be shooting for The Smashing Machine after WrestleMania XL so, one must not expect frequent appearances of the Rock after that.
