Magneto has been an integral part of the X-Men and has been beautifully portrayed by both Ian McKellen and Michael Fassbender in the live-action films. The character’s love-hate relationship with Charles Xavier forms a core part of the narrative of the X-Men lore.
With the MCU now having rights to the characters, they are looking forward to bringing their version of X-Men to the big screen. A new rumor has been circulating about the approach to their reboot, and according to it, Magneto is not a part of their X-Men plans. Fans are not happy about this approach.

Magneto Is Not a Part of MCU’s X-Men Plans According to A Popular Scooper
Magneto is one of the core X-Men characters and actors Ian McKellen and Michael Fassbender have showcased the complex nature of the character and the dysfunctional relationship he has with Charles Xavier. The property is set to be rebooted in the MCU and Kevin Feige must have already had ideas on how to introduce them into the MCU.
A new rumor has now surfaced about the possible approach to this new version of X-Men. According to popular scooper Daniel Richtman, (via X-Men Updates), Feige and the heads at Marvel are actively searching for writers for a new X-Men film.
He also revealed that Magneto is not a part of this planned film. Fans took to X to express their anger and frustration as to how an X-Men film can just omit a core character like Magneto. Here are some of the reactions,
You really can’t have the X-Men without Magneto. Whether he’s friend or foe, he’s as intrinsic to their struggle as Professor X.

IDC how many villains the X-Men have any cinematic version of the X-Men without magneto is worthless to me. He’s not just a villain he’s an integral thematic foil that make up 50% of their depth. https://t.co/BD1f7ixqhr

Then it’s not X-men.🎬

Magneto’s a key element of the X-men’s core metaphor, without him there’s like 40% less of an idea there and they just become the same thing as the avengers.

X-Men movie with no Magneto is not an X-Men story… foundation of X-Men is the relationship and approach of Professor X and Magneto

This is just a rumor from a scooper that one comes across every day and it should be taken with a grain of salt. However, if the MCU decides to go in this route, it would be a bold and risky move. They would have to deliver something groundbreaking to make a unique X-Me film work without someone like Magneto.
Michael Fassbender Is Open to Returning as Magneto
Michael Fassbender played Magneto in the modern incarnation of the X-Men films and his portrayal was praised by all. The character was last seen in X-Men: Dark Phoenix until Disney took over 20th Century Fox. Fassbender in an interview with Inverse expressed his openness in reprising the role.
The actor claimed that while no one has talked or approached him about it, he would be happy to reprise the role when the right opportunity comes knocking. He said,
“No talks. I’ve been waiting. Nobody calls me. I feel like I had a great journey with X-Men, great journey with Magneto, the whole experience. I kind of feel like it’s done, but I mean, never say never, but no, nothing on the horizon.”
The character may appear in Deadpool 3 considering all the rumors of a huge X-Men presence in the film. However, it seems his tenure as Magneto has come to an end and it’s time for another actor to come in and show new shades of the character.
