These two games will have a proper focus on the 10th of June, one day after the Summer Showcase on June 9th.

Why Are Avowed and Indiana Jones Skipping the Xbox Showcase?

Xbox and MachineGames' Indiana Jones and the Great Circle was originally announced in January 2021.
Xbox and MachineGames’ Indiana Jones and the Great Circle was originally announced in January 2021.

Although none of the games for the showcase are 100% confirmed by Xbox, this is likely due to it being a massive showcase – the first one to include all of Xbox, Bethesda, and Activision Blizzard at the same time. Maybe this is just the idea to focus more on the unannounced games or games without a trailer at all.

In January of this year, we already got a pretty decent amount of gameplay on both these games. The only big announcement left is an exact release date, which will most definitely be confirmed at the showcase. Any further delays are unlikely, and they will most probably make their 2024 release dates.

As per Insider Gaming, the critic and media outlet previews of these two will go live the 10th of June. Both of these games will also be playable at Summer Game Fest. This could be another reason, as these two could be featured greatly during the fest, and Xbox could focus on other games during its own show. It may do so to carefully divide the marketing time and attention between the list of first-party games that are currently in development.

Although the official list won’t be announced in advance, there are a few extremely likely choices, according to insiders and analysts.  One big game that has been heavily rumored for the past few days is the next installment in the Doom franchise.

According to Insider Gaming, the third game in ID Software’s relaunched Doom Trilogy has been in development for roughly four years and will be revealed during the showcase. It will also be available on PS5 on the day of launch, as part of Xbox’s new multi-platform approach.

The Call of Duty direct, which will follow the main showcase, will include an in-depth look at Black Ops 6, the upcoming Call of Duty game. We will get to know a lot more about the game, such as its setting, characters, multiplayer and zombie offerings etc.

Insiders also claim that State of Decay 3 is coming along quite nicely, and that Gears 6 will also most likely be revealed along with some stunning gameplay to showcase the capabilities of Unreal Engine 5. Perfect Dark, which has faced some tough challenges over its long development period, is reportedly shaping up well.

It was officially revealed in December 2020, but there have been no official updates since. Contraband, another title with a rocky development due to the pandemic and senior leadership changes, might also finally make an appearance after being announced all the way back in 2021.
