David planned to bring every star and guest star that had ever portrayed a role in Seinfeld in the finale of the show. After the finale aired in 1998, critics and fans alike were disappointed with the end result since it was more of a philosophical goodbye rather than a comedic ending. Several critics hailed this as one of the worst finales ever of any show and in general, people were disappointed.

Co-creator and main lead of the show, Jerry Seinfeld, even revealed in his conversation with fans (via Today) that he regretted the finale and he shouldn’t have done it at all!

“I sometimes think we really shouldn’t have even done it. There was a lot of pressure on us at that time to do one big last show, but big is always bad in comedy.”
