Final Fantasy 16 is no doubt the best of the modern installments that this series has seen lately. This game was launched last year exclusively for the PlayStation 5, and fans loved it. This game introduced a bunch of new ideas to the age-old Final Fantasy formula by giving fans a game with a whole new feel.

Final Fantasy 16 took the series from a hardcore JRPG to a full third-person action hack-and-slash genre. The game looks incredible, and its story is much darker than its previous installment, Final Fantasy XV. Now, this game is about to get a brand-new expansion, and it will introduce players to a relentless new enemy.

When a new role-playing game is launched, fans are always looking forward to its expansions. Especially if it’s a big-budget AAA role-playing game. These expansions give fans an opportunity to explore more of the world that they so love.

And that’s why, given the fact that Final Fantasy 16 developers announced two DLCs for this blockbuster, no one was surprised. For those unaware, Square Enix announced expansions called “Echoes of the Fallen” and “The Rising Tide” for their game.

The first of these expansions Echoes of the Fallen launched in December last year, and it brought a whole new location to its fans. It also gave them access to a brand-new quest, expanding the game’s story.

The Rising Tide is the second DLC, and it will be launching on April 18, 2024. This DLC would take players to another new location called Mysidia, which is being described as a hidden land under a blue sky. Besides this new location and quest, players would also unlock a new Leviathan Eikon of Water.

Besides this, they will also be fighting a massive new Leviathan battle in this upcoming DLC. As the pet game’s producer, Yoshi-P, this would be the last Eikon versus Eikon before the game’s final boss and would prove to be very challenging.

“Up until now, with the Eikon battles, we wanted to make them very unique but… accessible to the players as well. But this is the last Eikon versus Eikon battle before the final boss, so we wanted to make it something that was very, very challenging. It builds upon what you learned controlling Ifrit, and you’ll have to use everything you learned.”

This is very good to know, as fans would expect something like this for a DLC. After all, who does not play an RPG like this for a challenge? Over that, if this battle were hard, then it would also be epic, as hard Eikons usually have the best of powers.

For those unaware, Leviathan battles in the game are fights that involve the player’s Eikon, which is Leviathan. It is a massive Eikon that would play an important role in this upcoming expansion. It is never seen in the game itself, despite being referenced a bunch of times.

Besides a massive battle, fans of Final Fantasy 16 would get a lot of new things to enjoy in this expansion. As mentioned above, it would be set in a brand new location that players would be able to visit upon receiving an invitation.

Players would be able to complete a bunch of new quests, and they would also be able to get their hands on a weapon straight from Final Fantasy 14 called Curtana.
