“You are and always will be our Superman”: The Rock Goes to War Against James Gunn as Black Adam Producer Claims Henry Cavill Is Irreplaceable

The Rock Goes to War Against James Gunn

“Everybody Knows” by Sigrid plays in the background as the world mourns the loss of Henry Cavill as Superman. Much like the opening of Zack Snyder’s Justice League, the decisions over at DC took a dark turn for The Witcher actor.

Following many battles with the higher-ups, Dwayne Johnson managed to get a cameo of Cavill as Superman in the post-credit scene of Black Adam. The disappointing reports now reveal that Henry Cavill has indeed been removed from the DCU.

DC Actors Pay Respect To Henry Cavill’s Superman

With the announcement of Cavill’s departure from the DCU, several of the actors and co-actors went on Instagram to pay their respects to Henry Cavill. Donning the blue suit of Superman back in 2013 in Man of Steel, the actor portrayed the character of Superman for almost a decade.

According to reports, it was James Gunn and Peter Safran’s decision to remove Cavill from the character of Superman for reasons yet improbable. A theory stated that Gunn wanted to remove the Snyderverse from the DCU and Cavill’s Superman was the face of it. While another theory states that James Gunn and Peter Safran wanted to showcase a younger adaptation of the Man of Steel. With emotions, people and actors took to Instagram to state that Henry Cavill was simply irreplaceable and there was no better Superman than him.

The producer of Black Adam and a good friend of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Dany Garcia commented,

“You are and will always be our Superman and you are, of course so much more. Here’s to the brilliance that lies before you”.

Dany’s brother Hiram Garcia who was also one of the producers of Black Adam stated,

“You will always be the Superman of our generation brother. Always”.

There are some possibilities and certainties that the Enola Holmes actor can return once again to the DCU but it entirely depends on the actor.

Although things seem grim for Henry Cavill and his fans in the newly formed DCU, not all hope is lost. After the fallout between the director and the actor, James Gunn took to Twitter to update the situation and to explain things to people. One of these tweets grabbed the people’s attention since it hinted at Cavill’s return into the folds of the DCU once again.

As can be clearly seen from the tweets of the man himself, James Gunn had a chat with Cavill and both parties seem to be open to the possibilities of other DCU projects coming Cavill’s way. Notable DC actors such as Jason Momoa (Aquaman), Zachary Levi (Shazam!), and Quintessa Swindell (Black Adam) also paid their tributes to Henry Cavill on his Instagram post. There have been no confirmations from the other side regarding any projects lined up for Henry Cavill or whether he is truly interested in staying in the DCU.
