In a surprising turn of events, gay actor Neil Patrick Harris reveals he had a massive crush on his 20 years younger singer star, Nick Jonas. While he was clear and unhesitant to list out his crush, the How I Met Your Mother star also attracted much controversy for his twisted crush on an underage Disney icon.
Neil Patrick Harris Had A Massive Crush On Nick Jonas
An amazing actor, singer, and host, Neil Patrick Harris is a multiple times award winner for his brilliant personality. However, despite being so renowned, the 50-year-old star faced much backlash for innocently revealing that he has a crush on the Disney icon, Nick Jonas.
Appearing on The Wendy Williams Show in 2015, when Harris was asked who his celebrity crush was, he most honestly responded by taking the then-underage Disney icon’s name, adding,
“And he was really good-looking before it was kind of allowed to think he was good-looking, which was a bit of a problem. You kinda had to wait until he turned to be, you know, 19 to 20.”
Since being gay at that time was not common, Harris faced much backlash as his feelings for Nick Jonas were considered ‘inappropriate’, judging how the singer was a minor at the time. However, as the video resurfaced recently, several fans have been standing up to defend the How I Met Your Mother star, claiming its ‘double standards’ to call him out for honestly revealing who he liked.
Neil Patrick Harris Came Out As Gay In 2006
Way before his revelation about liking the Hollywood hotshot, Neil Patrick Harris came out as gay in 2006. Although this exposed him to much criticism from the public, the then-33-year-old star did not hesitate to proudly admit his different sexuality. In an interview, he said,
“The public eye has always been kind to me, and until recently I have been able to live a pretty normal life. Now it seems there is speculation and interest in my private life and relationships. So, rather than ignore those who choose to publish their opinions without actually talking to me, I am happy to dispel any rumors or misconceptions and am quite proud to say that I am a very content gay man living my life to the fullest and feel most fortunate to be working with wonderful people in the business I love.”
Neil Patrick Harris got married to David Burtka in 2014, a year before his twisted crush revelation about the Disney icon, and shares two children with his other half.
