With James Gunn now leading the DCU, and the fact that he is great friends with Kevin Feige, we could certainly dream of a Marvel vs. DC event in the future. It won’t happen right now, but if it turns out to be a possibility in the coming years, then there would be plenty of one-on-one battles that would excite the fans. But among the surviving regulars from both sides, you’d probably agree that Thor taking on Jason Momoa’s Aquaman on the big screen would be legendary. Apparently, Thor actor Chris Hemsworth wants this crossover battle as well!

Is Thor vs. Aquaman Coming?

Thor vs Aquaman

In a recent interview with The Geek House Show, the Extraction star was asked about his thoughts on a potential Marvel and DC crossover. And as he was just spitballing, the first idea that came to his mind was an Aquaman vs. Thor battle event. Here’s what he had to say:

“It would be cool. Who would be a fun matchup? Thor and Aquaman, that could be fun – you know Jason is a good friend of mine.

With Chris Hemsworth and Jason Momoa being so similar in the way they carry themselves and the kinds of Superheroes they play, you’d surely want a matchup between these two. And for those wondering how Aquaman would stand against Thor, you should be aware that he got a massive power upgrade with his trident. And it’s not that Thor can just use his magical lightning to electrify the ocean and kill him. Aquaman is resistant to that and he can also summon his own lightning bolts using his trident. So it would be an even battle as both of them would prove to be stronger in their own elements. But will Thor survive for long?

While speaking with Vanity Fair, he confirmed that Thor’s end could be coming, and he’d be okay with that. Here’s what he said when asked whether his character arc would be concluded soon:

“Yeah, for sure. I feel like we’d probably have to close the book if I ever did it again, you know what I mean? I feel like it probably warrants that. I feel like it’d probably be the finale, but that’s not based on anything anyone’s told me or any sort of plans. You have this birth of a hero, the journey of a hero, then the death of a hero, and I don’t know—am I at that stage? Who knows?”

But, he did admit that he wasn’t sure of what Marvel is planning for him. So, we’ve got hope.

Thor vs Hercules

After setting up a battle against Hercules, you shouldn’t think that Thor would perish in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty or Avengers: Secret Wars. It’s also likely that Thor vs. Hercules will happen after Secret Wars. So, we can be sure that Thor isn’t going anywhere until 2026 at least. And that’s enough for fans to hope that he may even survive until the wishful Marvel DC crossover.
