Young Justice aired on Cartoon Network in 2010 but was axed in 2012 due to the lack of toy sales despite its popularity among viewers. It was revived in 2019 until the fourth season was moved to HBO Max.

During his interview with Screen Rant, voice actor Nolan North gives a very optimistic yet unclear update about the potential return of the series on the small screen. He noted that he has no clue whatsoever about the series’ fate.

We have Warner Brothers people on the Zoom right now, I’m telling you guys, we can do this. We can make another season. I don’t know, I’m not privy to that. I know it’s a hit. I know fans want it desperately. I don’t know, I wish I did. We were so fortunate to get [to do the first two] seasons and three and four.”

Despite the lack of knowledge on the show’s possible return, he remains hopeful that something will be done to get the franchise going.

So fingers crossed that something gets done. Maybe in the future. I don’t think there’s plans right now. But we always say we’re not canceled, we just haven’t been picked up yet. That’s how I always feel about this show. So nobody’s ever definitively said there will no longer be any [more] Young Justice.”

The actor’s statement suggests that the show is not a priority right now for Warner Bros and DC, perhaps due to the previous rearrangement of leadership under DC Studios.

Young Justice Is Not Yet Cancelled

In another interview via Flickering Myth, North echoed the same update on Young Justice, though he reminded fans that they had a part in the revival of the franchise from years ago.

I could hope for more. I go to a lot of Comic-Cons around the country and around the world. [Fans ask] ‘Is there gonna be another Young Justice?’ and I’m like, ‘I don’t know.’ There’s the business side of distribution and all kinds of stuff that makes it difficult, and even though something could be a fan-favorite, distribution can be a nightmare sometimes.”

The actor mentioned that the business aspect of the show could be the culprit as to why it has not been renewed for Season 5. Still, he wants fans to know that it is not canceled for the time being.

We always joke that we haven’t been canceled, we just haven’t been picked up yet. The fans played a big part in bringing us back though. I think there’s room for it. It depends on what Warner Brothers and DC want to do, what their slate looks like.”

The uncertainty of the show’s renewal might be upsetting for many fans, but as North mentioned, as long as it is not yet officially axed, there is a possibility.
