On a recent post in the Helldivers 2 subreddit titled “Passing Mouse, you are invited to my wedding,” a player detailed an interesting encounter they had with a random player as they waited for their usual teammates to hop online:

“Met this guy playing solo last night while waiting for my usual squadmates to come online. It was just the two of us on a bot planet, and we played that shit tactical, you guys have no idea. Some Metal Gear Solid shit, moving from cover to cover, avoiding patrols, communicating the whole time. No mike, just the in game call outs. Bot, fifty meters, north east. Fabricator, one hundred meters, south, that type of shit. I don’t think there’s a single time where either of us opened fire without first tagging the enemy.”

They relayed that the two of them were using semi-auto weapons and were precise with their shots, not missing a beat and working perfectly in sync:

“The highlight of that mission was when we saw two lone bots, the big ones with arm blades. They were right next to a crashed pod that we were in the process of downloading the data from. I tagged one of the bots and took aim at it. I saw his green laser aim for the head of the other bot. I fired a single shot, and within a half second he had fired too. Both bots dropped at the same time, no alarm. I sent ‘affirmative,’ he sent ‘affirmative.’ This was camaraderie right there.”

They went their separate ways after, but the original poster couldn’t get the unexpected match out of their mind. They turned to Reddit in hopes of finding their lost friend. The poster humorously argued that among the existing options on the communications wheel, “you’re invited to my wedding” should be added to better convey their emotions.

The story was an absolute hit among the community, with many sharing details on how the poster could potentially reunite with their momentary partner using the game’s recent players list. Fingers crossed, we could have an update soon where the two are reunited and playing together again.
