Guardians of The Galaxy has become the most popular and high-grossing superhero film trilogy. Directed by James Gunn, the movies enjoy a massive fan following and have a wide-scale viewership. The third part of the film was released in 2023 and turned out to be one of the biggest hits of the year, in comparison with Barbie and Oppenheimer. Chris Pratt plays the lead character of Warlord in the film, however, one more popular actor auditioned for the character.
After the enormous love and success of the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy, it would be difficult to say if any other actor could have perfected the role of Peter Quill. However, Shazam actor Adam Brody once had eyes on the character.

Jennifer’s Body actor shared in the interview with Variety, that he wanted to become part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the role of one of the most iconic characters Peter Quill. However, the actor is appreciative of the choice for the role. The OC and Shazam! Fury of the Gods actor Adam Brody had read for the role of Peter Quill in James Gunn’s film, but he did not get the role.
In the interview, Brody talked about his failed audition for the character of Star-Lord, “I wanted that one.”
Brody shared that Chris Pratt was definitely a better fit for the character.
“He is bigger, stronger, but tonally, I really dug it.”
The actor finally got the chance to join the comic book genre with the film Shazam! He made an appearance at the end of the movie starring Zachary Levi. He played a prominent role in the sequel Shazam! Fury of the Gods was released in 2023. He plays the superhero version of Jack Dylan Grazer’s character Freddy Freeman, in the films.

Brody got the chance to portray himself as a superhero in the film Shazam! Fury of the Gods. He shared that he desired to play a comic book star for the past 16 years.
Brody tells The Hollywood Reporter,
“Well, I guess I scratched the itch. Sure. Maybe. But honestly, I would say that probably has more to do with my age than the breadth of the part itself. It was, and is, very fun and interesting to play in this space as someone who hadn’t done it before. Just the sheer scale of it is a kick, and I hope I’m not done with superhero stuff. But at the same time, if my interest has waned at all, it probably has more to do with my age than it has to do with having my fill by being Freddy.”
Shazam! Fury of the Gods was released in March 2023 and is available for streaming on Max.
