Euphoria is undoubtedly one of the biggest shows in the world right now. It is also one of the top three viewed shows on HBO Max with House of the Dragon and The Last of Us. The show is known for its explicit and mature themes. However, it can’t be denied that it receives heaps of social media attention due to Zendaya being te lead of the show. As such, when it was revealed that the actress was about to get eye-watering amounts of money for season 3, no one was surprised.
Zendaya’s New Deal For Euphoria Season 3
Puck’s Matthew Belloni recently revealed the names of the stars who were bagging the biggest paychecks in television in his Hollywood-centric newsletter. He reported that Zendaya, who plays Euphoria’s lead Rue Bennett, had penned a new deal for season 3 of the show. As per Belloni, she had renegotiated her salary and was going to be paid around $1 million per episode of the new season.
Zendaya’s mega new deal is a stark contrast to co-star Sydney Sweeney’s words about payments in TV shows. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in 2022, the actress said:
“They don’t pay actors like they used to, and with streamers, you no longer get residuals. The established stars still get paid, but I have to give 5 percent to my lawyer, 10 percent to my agents, 3 percent or something like that to my business manager. I have to pay my publicist every month, and that’s more than my mortgage.”
However, Zendaya clearly doesn’t have to worry about that. Her new deal puts her on the list of actors who received 7-figure salaries for their TV roles. Belloni said that other such stars are Jason Sudeikis on Ted Lasso, Elisabeth Moss on Shining Girls, Michael Keaton on Dopesick, and John Krasinski on Jack Ryan. Krasinski is reportedly paid $2 million every episode, however, he is also an executive producer on the show. One can’t deny that Zendaya deserves every bit of that near-million-dollar paycheck every episode.
Why Zendaya Deserves The 1 Million Per Episode Pay
Zendaya’s new Euphoria season 3 deal is understandable and also expected. After all, she was the executive producer of the show’s second season and has even bagged Emmy awards in the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series category for both seasons. Even though the plot and characterization in the show aren’t always loved by critics and audiences alike, Zendaya’s superior acting is the one thing everyone has always appreciated.
There’s also the fact that the actress has a thriving acting career outside of the show. She is the female lead in MCU’s Spider-Man films and also recently starred in Dune. The sequel to the latter, allegedly featuring her in a more prominent role, is going release this year. As such, it can’t be denied that the actress has truly made her mark in Hollywood and is growing into a talented star who knows her worth.
Dune: Part 2 will release on 3 November 2023, and Euphoria season 3 is speculated to stream in the middle of 2024.
