There are many characters that our tarnished character meets throughout his journey of becoming the Elden Lord in Hidetaka Miyazaki’s Elden Ring. However, one significant character stuck around and guided us throughout our journey until we achieved our goal, which is Melina.
Since it has already been made clear how the contents of the DLC will remain separate from the main game, we are less likely to see a return of Melina to the storyline. This also begs the question of who will guide our player through the terrains of the Land of Shadow, and Miyazaki is ready with the answer.
Hidetaka Miyazaki Hints Towards Whom Will Guide Us In Our Journey Through The Land of Shadow In Elden Ring
The renowned director recently appeared in an interview with Famitsu, and a translated transcript of the same can be read through this Reddit post. Hidetaka Miyazaki in this interview revealed many details about the coming expansion, including how the contents of the expansion will not be affecting the main game. When asked to confirm if the character in the key art is Miquella, he stated-
“Yes, Miquella is the central character in the story told in this DLC. I don’t know if you remember, but in the story in the main title, following the grace was the simple path. Here, you are following the footsteps of Miquella who headed for the shadow lands. Further, there are NPCs also following after Miquella. The story of the DLC is told through them, and they cross paths with the player, sometimes as allies, sometimes as enemies. Also, one other main pillar of the DLC story is the history of this shadow land and the history of Queen Marika.“
The director essentially revealed how, as speculated, Miquella will be the character that the DLC revolves around. He also disclosed how our character would be following the footsteps of the empyrean twin and those who came after him. We will be crossing paths with them and potentially interacting with them, either as a friend or a foe.
What makes our journey to the Land of Shadow more interesting is how we will be traversing to the new area by interacting with Miquella’s Arm hanging out of his cocoon in Mohgwyn’s Palace. Not much information on Miquella’s role as a guide has been provided yet, but there is a general speculation of how he might come to our help in the DLC.
How Miquella Might Guide Us In The Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree DLC
In the main game, the players get an insight into the storyline and are brought up to pace by Melina often as she meets us while we rest on several sites of grace and guides us. Bearing in mind how we are ultimately being guided by Miquella in the coming expansion, it is possible he will guide us similarly, meeting us on resting sites and giving us an insight into the lore of the place.
There are many questions that fans hope will be finally answered with the release of Shadow of the Erdtree. One theroy that has been going around is how Mohg, the Lord of Blood might still be alive and can potentially return as a boss in the coming expansion of the game. There is also the possibility of how we might get to fight Miquella as a boss in the DLC, something not possible to do with Melina in the main game.
