PlayStation has given its fans some very exciting games over the years. But their first-party studios are mostly known for developing some very story-heavy games. These titles would feature a linear progression system, which does not give fans much freedom in exploration. But the developer of Ghost of Tsushima changed this.

A truly open-world game where players can go anywhere and do anything. It took some ideas from this developer’s previously released Infamous series of games. The idea of walking two paths was described in this game as the path of a ghost or a samurai. And now, years after this game’s launch, some suggest that they can use this idea to take this franchise in a whole new direction.

In the first game of this series, players control Jin Sakai, a lord who is set out to liberate his island of Tsushima from the Mongols. He goes around the island, defeating warlords, killing people harassing the common populace, and making sure everyone is left alone.

Fans might remember he was on the frontlines with his uncle, who was a samurai lord. He and his uncle meet the Mongol army on the shores of Tsushima Island, but they are defeated very quickly. Khotun Khan that by cheating them and not caring for the rules that the samurai clans followed while fighting their enemies.

First thought dead, Jin comes back and instantly starts combating his enemies. As the story progresses, he learns that some enemies do not deserve to be fought fairly.

While his uncle did not approve of these techniques, they did show some positive results. Eventually, he became a notorious entity around the island of Tsushima. People started calling him The Ghost, and he even started embracing this title.

This means he became a symbol, just like Batman, and this means the developers can do what they want with this character. This island is full of numerous people who would love to play their Katana in this game.

Sucker Punch can introduce a brand-new character and just call him another ghost in Ghost of Tsushima 2, another person who people thought was killed when fighting the Mongol army but one who came back to fight them the way they deserved to be fought- with fear.

There are a couple of people in the first game that the developers can consider for this. One of them is Yuna, the thief who saves Jin’s life. She can even take her vengeance for her brother a step further and reign fire on her enemies. The best part is that she remains a thief, hence she is not a Samurai and does not have to face the dilemma of fighting dirty.

The other option is Norio, yes, this Warrior Monk can be a Ghost too. His naginata is one fierce weapon, and all he needs is a fair cause to walk the dark side. Mongols already broke him after what they did to his brother, maybe he can go a step further.

It looks like Sony has a bunch of games under its belt!

A still from Bloodborne

While gamers all over the world are talking about Stellar Blade right now, it’s pretty evident that Sony has a bunch of other games under its belt that they have yet to show their fans. No one is sure what those games are, but Bloodborne 2 and Ghost of Tsushima 2 are said to be the top contenders.

Maybe Sony would show these off during their June stream? Or maybe they would do it a bit sooner. While the specifics can only come from Sony, fans can be sure that they have a lot to show and confirm.
