Ghost of Tsushima 2 is on the top of the wish list of the gaming community after the success of the first game back in 2020. The game featured stunning visuals and complex combat systems that challenged the players to adapt and resort to other bloodier methods to win a fight.

The developers have accomplished great feats with the hardware limitations of the PlayStation 4 with the Infamous games but made it look ahead of their time. New gameplay footage of a canceled project has surfaced and the gaming community hopes it could see the light of day.

Sucker Punch Productions went all out with the previous console generation and gave the players one of the best gaming experiences through Ghost of Tsushima. The developer took its sweet time transitioning from Infamous to the present franchise which is not an easy task.

It also did warn the gaming community that Ghost of Tsushima 2 could take a while. With all the time on their hands, the developers were actively working on a separate project that recently surfaced online.

Unfortunately, it was canceled and Sony might have favored the open-world samurai title over whatever the developers were working on. The gameplay and animations are nearly identical to what the studio presented in Ghost of Tsushima even with the combat.

Perhaps this was the intended project before the developers changed their minds at the last minute. Despite its popularity, not everyone appreciates the first Ghost of Tsushima. Perhaps the setting and gameplay did not appeal to the masses, and Sony probably thought this canceled project would not fare any better.

The game failed to win GotY 2020 and the consensus about it was negative and many believed the studio was robbed. The atmosphere is reminiscent of The Order 1886 and it is evident that the developers had a specific goal for this game. Perhaps the studio could not divide its workforce to work on multiple projects given the success of the 2020 project.

The gaming industry is a cut-throat business and studios have to make tough choices like choosing what to let go. Perhaps the world is not ready for Prophecy and the developers are using all the lessons they learned to go back and finish what they started.

There is no telling how Sucker Punch Productions weighed their options but the fans are grateful for what was given. Maybe this is the studio’s future franchise as soon as they wrap up Ghost of Tsushima.

PlayStation is a powerhouse for great single-player experiences, and Prophecy could be added to the list. First-party studios are racing against time to think of something that will entice the players.

Regardless, the developers have proven their talents and Sony could offer more support. It is an exciting time to be a fan given the massive leaps in quality of talent and technology.
