Despite the club being struck with some hard times, the RR McReynolds Company’s investment has helped it come back. Even on Instagram, Reynolds is often seen promoting the soccer club and even went on to launch the Emmy-winning docuseries, Welcome to Wrexham. While some still doubt Reynolds’ intentions, the manager of the club recently stated how the Deadpool star’s involvement is more than just a celebrity stunt.

Just like an actor dons several roles in their career, Ryan Reynolds too has taken several roles in his real life. Apart from being a successful actor, writer, and producer, Reynolds is a pretty successful businessman. The actor has invested in companies like Aviation Gin, Mint Mobile and is also the owner of the production company, Maximum Effort.

Yet it is his business venture to acquire the Welsh soccer club, Wrexham AFC that has garnered the most attention. The club, before Reynolds and Rob McElhenney purchased it, languished in the fifth division of English soccer ever since 2008. But ever since their purchase, despite significant losses, the club has benefitted greatly from the two Hollywood stars’ efforts.

In a recent interview with BBC, the Wrexham manager, Phil Parkinson remarked how the Deadpool star and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia star are in the game for a long time.

“Last year when we got promotion I felt there were a lot more chapters to be written… “I firmly believe that’s still [the case] now.”

Parkinson further added concerning the team’s recent win,

“They deserve a lot of credit obviously because the support they’ve given myself and all the staff and the backing they give all the players as well.”

Adding on that owning a soccer club is never easy, Parkinson’s kind words only indicate that Reynolds is in this for the long run.
