Helldivers 2 players are tired of waiting for new additions to the game so they have started digging up the game’s files to predict what’s coming to the game. Many dataminers have discovered some interesting things in the game’s code, however, one of the game’s developers has crushed their hope as he revealed that these unreleased things have a slight chance of releasing in future updates.
Some of these items have made it into the game in the Democratic Detonation warbond, but still, the Helldivers 2 dev asks fans to stop hoping for it. The response was to a question regarding images of various recolored armors that have been circulating on the internet in recent weeks.
Helldivers 2 dev says don’t get too attached to the leaked items
A Helldivers 2 developer, Evil-Bosse, recently acknowledged the unreleased items that players discovered in the game’s files. The dev said on the Helldivers Discord server,
“I don’t look at datamined stuff, and I would avoid falling in love with it. Some are old leftovers, some are ancient leftovers, some are things that will pop up in game.”
Recently some images of recolors of the basic Helldivers armor went viral among the community. Many leaked vehicles, armor, and stratagems were also leaked, in fact, some cheaters spawned these leaked items on the battlefield, causing a stir among the players.
Some guns that were found in the game’s files made it into the game in the Democratic Detonation warbond such as the Adjudicator marksman rifle. Mechs were also added to the game shortly after data miners discovered them in the game’s code.
Fans have been eagerly waiting for melee weapons
There are many weapons in Helldivers 2 but melee weapons are still missing. Since its release, players have been waiting for the addition of various melee weapons and finally, it might be happening as Community manager Twinbeard revealed on Helldivers Discord,
“We look at them with interest but also with a very large respect for the game fantasy and lore – As a couple of examples: Melee weapons could be plausible in Helldivers. Lightsabers from Star Wars would not. A Helldiver finding a remnant, artefact or a letter from someone from another game/cultural universe is plausible. Mickey Mouse writing a Helldiver would not […] We don’t want to be Kingdom Hearts or Fortnite.”
It’s unclear what kind of melee weapons are coming to Helldivers 2, but Arrowhead will certainly take necessary steps to make sure they’re not classified in the same category as Fortnite. It is expected that some major updates are coming to Helldivers 2 and it’s safe to say fans are not ready for it.
