The Invincible series has managed to gain a devoted fandom thanks to its original concept and mature themes, which makes it quite unique. Revolving around the superhero Mark Grayson, who struggles to balance his personal life with his superhero duties, the show has so much to offer. It is back with a second part to continue the events of Invincible Season 2 Part 1, bringing new twists to the animated series.
In Episode 6 of Invincible Season 2, Rick Sheridan, who was a minor character in the first season, is back with a drastic transformation that hints at an intense storyline moving ahead.
Rick Sheridan is Back in Invincible Season 2 Episode 6
Rick Sheridan is a minor character in Invincible Season 1, one of Mark Grayson’s close friends from Upstate University. Back in the first season, he was kidnapped by the villain D.A. Sinclair who transformed him into Reanimen- experimental cyborgs made out of corpses as well as living humans.
His arc is quite tragic as Sinclair tortured and dismembered him to make him into a cyborg. After Invincible saved him, the Global Defense Agency (GDA) took him to restore his body. In Episode 6 of Season 2, Sheridan is back, but it seems like he has been turned into an android (via Screen Rant).
However, his new look seems to be one of the biggest plot twists as he might face a similar existential crisis as Donald Ferguson.
In the first half of Invincible season 2, Ferguson, who is a significant ally to GDA director, Cecil Stedman, gets killed by Omni-Man. While many thought that his arc would end like that, it was otherwise as Cecil and GDA took his body to make him a cyborg with the help of Sinclair.
However, his cyborg transformation led him to have an existential crisis, and it seems that Rick would also face the same fate. As Donald brings Rick back to the Upstate University, he hints that Mark Grayson (Steven Yeun)’s friend has also been turned like him.
Cyborgs Conflict With GDA Might be Explored in Invincible Season 3!
With Rick being back in Season 2, Episode 6 as a cyborg, it would mean that his story is yet to end, which could possibly hint at an intense storyline for the third season. Given Donald’s struggle to come to terms with his cyborg transformation played an interesting arc in the second season, it is far from over.
Now that Sheridan is back, he could also face a similar existential crisis, which could make the duo bond with one another. As they might connect through their similar fate, their arc could go beyond that due to D.A. Sinclair’s contribution to the story moving ahead.
In the comics, Cecil Stedman tries to get the antagonist on his side to use his technology for the greater good. As Sinclair gets employed by GDA to make cyborgs for the betterment of society, Donald has a major fallout with his superior, as he is against that idea.
Since this arc can be explored in the future, Cecil and Donald’s fallout could get better with Rick’s introduction who might get on the latter’s side to face off Cecil with his plan.
The Invincible series is available on Prime Video.
