J.K. Simmons promised fans that Omni-Man will continue to have a significant contribution to the show through Season 3 despite noticing the character’s screen time is slowly diminishing. Besides, the figure is one of the central members of the show.
Omni-Man’s relationship with Mark Grayson has been a crucial part of the plot in the first season. The young hero spent the entire installment trying to please his father. As Nolan Grayson continues his vital involvement in Season 2, Simmons already expects his character to take the sidelines once in a while.
J.K. Simmons On The Future Of Omni-Man
During an exclusive interview with Screen Rant, veteran actor J.K. Simmons shared his honest thoughts about Omni-Man and related his experience working on the Amazon Prime show.
“One of the things that I find really interesting about the way Robert, Simon, and the whole team are continuing to conceive this is that it is like sort of riding the waves. Sometimes, their gentle waves, and sometimes, they come crashing against the rocks, because sometimes it feels like we almost lose track of Nolan, or lose focus on that character.”
Despite getting the feeling that his character’s story is diverting to another path or no longer informing his purpose on the show, Simmons reassured fans that these moments happen to give way for other characters to thrive as well. In the interim of his absence, the creators are brewing better stories for him.
“And then, we come back and get a big dose of it, but to me, it never feels like we’re getting too much. And the stretches where we’re not seeing much, I think it’s a really interesting creative choice to not only focus on other things, but to build that sort of anticipation and that sort of mystery of what the hell is going on with Nolan while we’re not focused on him.”
The Oscar-winning star promised viewers that the character will have more moments in the future, particularly in the upcoming third season, so it is definitely something to look forward to.
“To me, it’s all a part of keeping it fresh. And yes, there will be more Nolan in the future, but it’ll continue to sort of wax and wane.”
There is no official announcement yet of Season 3’s release date. Plot and cast details are also kept under wraps. Since the second half of Season 2 just debuted this month, the upcoming installment may still be far ahead.
Is Season 3 Still Happening?
For fans expecting Season 3 to come sooner, Steven Yeun confirmed via Collider that it is already in the works, though he did not provide any specifics.
“For us, we know that this big break was not fun. We’ve been working hard to get a lot of backlog done. We wanna time this animation thing appropriately. So, yeah, we’ve been working. We’re banking episodes, we know what’s going on.”
Hopefully, the third season will show more interactions between Simmon’s Omni-Man and Yeun’s Mark Grayson.
