She-Hulk: Attorney at Law introduced several new themes to the MCU. Despite being infamous among fans, the Tatiana Maslany series brought a different tonality to the superhero universe. It is crazy how the show did not hesitate to even joke on Chris Evans’ Captain America. But Maslany revealed that the studio almost deleted one of her funniest Steve Rogers jokes.

The discussion regarding Captain America’s virginity was a running gag in the Disney+ show’s premiere before Jennifer Walters finally gets her answer in the finale. However, it is crazy how Marvel Studios almost cut one of the rarest positive elements from the show. Fans, who were already pissed on the CGI and writing of the show were also about to lose the iconic joke.

What did Tatiana Maslany say about the Captain America joke?

Captain America or more precisely his “butt” has been a topic of humor in the MCU for a long time. But She-Hulk: Attorney at Law also brought his virginity as fuel to increase the humor quotient of the show. While Tatiana Maslany‘s character repeatedly asserted in the series premiere that Steve Rogers died a virgin, the finale answered the question.

In the She-Hulk mid-credits scene, Bruce Banner finally answers his cousin that “Steve Rogers is not a virgin. He lost his virginity to a girl in 1943 on the USO tour.” Jennifer Walters jumps in excitement on hearing the answer and cheers “Captain America f–ks!” as the screen cuts to black.

Recently when Tatiana Maslany appeared at the Super Hero Comic Con 2024, the Canadian actress admitted (via Agents of Fandom) that the scene was almost cut by Marvel.

The hardcore fans know that the Marvel Cinematic Universe is largely known as a PG-friendly movie studio. They had their first intimate scene in Eternals before finally greenlighting the R-rated Deadpool & Wolverine film. It can be speculated that the studio was afraid to push the boundaries while making the 2022 show. Nonetheless, the joke ended up in the show and presented an insight into the private life of the MCU superheroes.

Will Tatiana Maslany return for another season of She-Hulk?

After her solo show, She-Hulk's future is uncertain for now

The first season of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law was a hit among critics, but it could not make a name among the audiences. The contrast between the critics’ rating (77%) and audience score (32%) on Rotten Tomatoes explains that it was not accepted by most of the masses. Seems like the MCU has taken it into notice as a Season 2 of the show is unlikely.

During an appearance at Codenames LIVE! – The New Class earlier this year in January, when Tatiana Maslany was asked about a possible Season 2, she responded negatively. According to her, Disney would not like to renew the series due to budgetary issues.

I don’t think so. I think we blew our budget, and Disney was like, ‘No thanks.’

According to VarietyShe-Hulk: Attorney at Law had a budget of $225 million which suggests that each episode cost $25 million. It is shocking given the fact that the CGI work seen in the project is highly disappointing and bizarre. The Verge even wrote that it is “uncanny”.

All these factors combined make it highly unlikely for the MCU and Disney to greenlight a Season 2 of the show and we may not see her before Avengers 5 and Secret Wars.

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law can be streamed on Disney+.
